Apple has already been a Nokia Patents licensee since 2011. But this patent licensing agreement ended on December 31 2016. Under terms of this agreement, Apple paid one time huge sum and was committed to pay ongoing royalties to Nokia. However,\u00a0Apple has declined to continue paying. Since Apple Products still infringe Nokia patents, Nokia has decided to take Apple to court.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Nokia seek\u00a0help from Samsung to fight against Apple. Here is the Nokia\u2019s formal request to the Court.\u00a0\u201cPetitioner Nokia Technologies Oy (\u201cNokia\u201d), the Complainant in Certain Electronic Devices, Including Mobile Phones, Tablet Computers, and Components Thereof, Inv. No. 337- TA-1038 (\u201cthe Investigation\u201d) before the U.S. International Trade Commission (\u201cITC\u201d), hereby moves the Court to issue, under its seal and signature, the attached Letter of Request to the Central Authority of the Republic of Korea. The Letter seeks documents and deposition testimony from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., based in the Republic of Korea. They have filled many IPR infringement cases against each other. This should be a good opportunity for Samsung to make some damage to the US tech giant.
