In details, the patent would include a temperature sensor and a heating element.

Furthermore, the sensor and element purpose is to increase the temperature of the OLED panel around that area. Also, they allow the display to return to its usual position whenever a deformity occurs. Moreover, Motorola claimed that the patent includes a unique module explicitly designed to track if the display gets folded or not. Besides, the patent introduced a backup battery, which records how long the panel has been in the folded position. Also, the process still works even when the device is off. When it exceeds the time limit, the display will enter the recovery mode as soon as its unfolded.

Motorola is yet to reveal any working prototypes of the concept detailed in the patent. However, the solution certainly looks like something that could work in real-life scenarios. Meanwhile, the Chicago-based brand is yet to publicly announce plans to introduce a foldable smartphone that could take on Samsung next year. However, it appears that the company wants to take another step further by also developing its own GPUs. Specifically, Samsung is hoping to produce a new range of graphics processing units that will initially apply for low-end smartphones. Perhaps, cutting cost is the main reason. However, as the brand evolves technologies, such GPUs are going to make their way into various products such as self-driving vehicles and possibly IoT offerings.

Additionally, if this chip becomes popular enough, Samsung could eventually introduce them into the flagship smartphones line. This is something that would help increase profit margins in the long run. According to a job listing on LinkedIn, Samsung rep wrote: “Our flagship processor will populate lower-tier mobile devices while nextgen GPUs embrace evolving markets like autonomous driving and the power of machine/deep learning computations. This is Samsung’s proprietary IP. We will define the ISA, the architecture, the SW, the entire solution. Not many companies can claim this”

However, the list fails to reveal any specific timeline for the development of the new chips. Considering the brand is hoping to embrace upcoming technologies, Samsung could publicly unveil its first offerings within the next three years. Thus, it is just in time for the mainstream to debut future technologies.

In contrast to what we have predicted, the phone is going to have only one rear camera and a notch on top of the display. A Google Pixel 3 XL phone case got leaked today which indirectly confirms this news furthermore. It is worth noticing that it’s less about the phone case and more about the front of the Pixel 3 XL. The case cutouts show one single camera on the back along with the hole for an LED flash, as well as the fingerprint sensor.

It looks like there’s a hole at the top where you might find the 3.5mm audio port, which is an opening for something else entirely and not the audio port. This is because Google removed the audio port on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL device. And there’s nothing to suggest that Google will be bringing this back.
