According to the listing on WIPO, Huawei has received a patent for a gaming smartwatch. The application initially filed in December 2017 and follows licenses with the Chinese Intellectual Office (2015 – 2016) for development of the technology. The patent’s title is ‘Smart wearable device and control method for the smart wearable device.’ Since this patent goes back to 2015, it looks like the company has now further developed the technology; and is finally seeing an opportunity to execute this in an end product.

The documentation is detailed and shows that the smartwatch is solely focused on gaming. Huawei is aiming to consolidate functions in the watch band, since operating via the touchscreen has some drawbacks. Furthermore, Huawei is using a rectangular watch case for the illustrations, which is very much similar to the Apple Watch. The strap of the smartwatch will have a mechanical sensor and a touchscreen on both sides of the case. It also shows a virtual keyboard which splits into two on the watchband.

The customer can scroll up and down to access all letters, numbers, and signs. It can also detect various types of movements like tab, slide, pull, sway, twist, shake or press. Interestingly, all that actions depend on how the watch is oriented horizontally or vertically. As mentioned above, the device is suitable for racing games. Since the smartwatch stays vertically, the customer can control the steering on one side of the strap, while the braking is on the other. Besides, the extra watch band can also use for additional functions when taking selfies, implying the device will have a camera built-in. There is also the ability to zoom in, zoom out and select text on the fixing band.

As for as we have known, manufacturers like Razer and Xiaomi already went for a gaming smartphone. A gaming smartwatch, however, might be the beginning of a new trend. Based on the latest updates, a Vietnamese blogger took the time to analyse Oppo F7’s benchmark results and figure out something vague. In details, Oppo once again was caught cheating in benchmarks since its last situation with the Oppo F3 last year. This is not the first case that smartphone brands try to boost their product scores. Previously, the giant Samsung and even OnePlus also did the same action (no more found cases since OnePlus 5T).

Back to the case of OPPO F7, the Helio P60 processor scored much higher on AnTuTu than it should according to the blogger. In details, the Helio P60 received testing compared to the other almost-same SoC including Snapdragon 660 (Mi 6X) and Snapdragon 636 (Redmi Note 5 Pro). To be fair, the Helio P60 provides high performance but not that much, compared to the other two chipsets.

All of the three SoC above comes with the same structure of four cores A53 and four cores A73. Therefore, the blogger tested again with com.AnTuTu.ABenchMark, a newly created empty Benchmark app. When processing under this app, the F7’s cores boosted up to 2.0GHz ignoring all thermal thresholds. Whereas, the author also explains that the Helio P60 would run all of eight cores to process at the maximum scores once being run on any Benchmark app. Meanwhile, OPPO assumed that the integrated AI technology is one of the reason. Thus, all of the F7’s activities work on both CPU eight cores and dual-AI-cores, which improves 80% performance. In July 2017, high-end professional camera maker brand Red announced their plan to launch their first smartphone! Moreover, this handset comes with an innovative proposal. The Red Hydrogen One is going to sport a holographic display. The Red Hydrogen One specs include a 5.7-inch 3D screen (2560×1440 pixels resolution). Furthermore, Red Hydrogen One screen has two modes: 2D (regular cell phone) and 4V (holographic).

According to Jim Jannard, the CEO of RED replied in a post that:”While there are still a few things to add, it does everything we need from a cell phone… plus display 4-view content. It is awesome. If we never sell one phone… I am totally happy. We both have exactly what we wanted.” RED stated that the Hydrogen One is “tad thicker”, and “solid”, we can expect the handset to be quite large and heavy.
