Top five tips to travel alone: accomodations, local language and more!!

Travelling alone can seem threatening to your comfort at home. However, your worries and more can be outweighed by the innumerable benefits. Here, we give you the top tips on how to travel alone successfully right below!

Travel alone

1. Know your strengths

The first thing that you should check in the list is to learn about yourself. Knowing your strengths and weakness would help you to be well-prepared and handle situations. If you are a sociable person who wants to be in the middle of everything, you should head somewhere that people speak your language.

If you’re more of an introvert, the language barrier is not the problem and vibrant cities are perfect for people sightseeing. This happens the same to other aspects of your checklist, from food to weather. Besides, the more you understand about yourself, the more you know the suitable destinations that ensure your maximum experience.

Travel alone

2. Sleep around

As a solo traveller, you’ll have tons of options to choose from. In details, one of them is a homestay or room rentals in an apartment. Besides, this option gives you an automatic connection with residents. During the staying time, you can be offered town trips or local tips from the landlord. Meanwhile, hostels are ready-made for solo travellers too. However, it depends on you whether you would like to spend more time with other tourists or with locals.

Travel alone

3. Keep interact

On the other hand, being alone would not be much frightening as long as you can enjoy your pure freedom. If you feel social, you can try to make new friends, and how off your free-agent status is. You can offer to take a family’s photo at a big sight or by sitting near a chatty gang at a bar. In fact, people would love to know you’re making an effort and trying your best to interact, even when you’re a little rusty.

Travel alone

4. Learn some local language

If your plan to go somewhere not speaking your language, just make an effort to learn theirs. Only a few words or phrases to introduce yourself, start a basic conversation, order a beer and counting would help. Further, you need to learn how to say “no, thank you” in the local language as well as non-verbal gestures for “no”. This helps you to avoid some awkward situations and sometimes dangerous cases.

Travel alone

5. Be connected

Wherever you go, have your smartphones that are always-on in your pocket. Besides, you can use social networks to make connections when travelling. Moreover, you can offer short trips to local friends by using GPS while update news about weathers or local notice. Further, your smartphone should include local help numbers like police or emergency even you might never use them.

People are deleting Snapchat after the controversial ad!

Last week, Snapchat released an ad that stirred quite a bit of raging storm on social media. The ad, which was apparently sponsored for a mobile game, asked Snapchat users if they would rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown. In a statement to BBC, the company said that the ad was “reviewed and approved in error.”

But pop star Rihanna doesn’t seem to be impressed by what the company has to say. On Thursday, the singer posted a statement on her Instagram Story; criticising Snapchat for “spending money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV (domestic violence) victims.”

Snapchat

After that, many Snapchat subscribers took to social media to post their disgust with the ad. Furthermore, several of them said that they would uninstall the app from their phones. And still the story doesn’t end there. Investors also took sides as Snapchat parent SNAP saw its stock slide as much as 5% to hit a low of $16.91. Before rebounding to close at $17.20, off 3.6% on the day.

Quick backstory on Snapchat’s situation

In an infamous picture after the assault, Rihanna, who was then 22, was seen with a black eye, bloody lips, and cuts on her forehead — all at the hands of her then-boyfriend rapper Chris Brown. In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to the assault and paid a fine and did community service. The selloff in Snap shares is the second at the hands of a celebrity in less than a month. In February, social media celebrity Kylie Jenner complained about the app’s redesign, causing the company to lose more than $1 billion in market value.
