Xiaomi Mi 6 scores higher than Samsung Galaxy S8?

Xiaomi Mi 6 was leaked in a live image before. The phone has just been spotted on Geekbench benchmark website. According to the single-core and multi-core results, Xiaomi Mi 6 scores tell us this will be a powerful device. In fact, Xiaomi Mi 6 scores 2006 and 6438 in single and multi-core results respectively on GeekBench. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S8 scored 1916 and 6011 and Galaxy S8+ scored 1929 and 6084 for the same test order.

Obviously, Xiaomi Mi 6 scores higher than the two latest Samsung flagships. What makes it such a premium smartphone? The Xiaomi Mi 6 features a 5.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Meanwhile, its bigger brother Mi 6 Plus may sport a 2K OLED display with curved edges and dual rear cameras. Xiaomi Mi 6 specs include the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and Adreno 540 GPU, together with 4GB/6GB RAM.

Xiaomi Mi 6 scores

In terms of photography, Xiaomi Mi 6 cameras sport a 12MP sensor on the rear and an 8MP selfie snapper. The phone runs Android Nougat with a battery of 4,000mAh. Xiaomi will probably use Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology for better charging support. There could be three memory options of 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM, 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, and 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. Since they are all inbuilt internal storage which cannot be expanded via microSD card, your choice depends on your demand and needs some considerations.

Xiaomi Mi 6 scores higher but will it cost higher than Samsung Galaxy S8?

Xiaomi Mi 6 price may vary from Rs. 20,500 to roughly Rs. 24,300. This is much lower than Samsung Galaxy S8 price, which is expected to be nearly Rs 55,000. Xiaomi Mi 6 will probably come in together with another giant Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 next week, on April 19.

Mi 6 home button to use a cheap motor?

This year will be full of big flagship reveal. Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled soon, and Xiaomi Mi 6 will also be launched this year. However, there may be one big problem with the Mi 6 home button!

mi 6 home button

Mi 6 home button to use a cheap motor?

Recently, among the Samsung Galaxy S8 hype, Xiaomi also got a lot of anticipation for its new Xiaomi Mi 6 this year. People have been eagerly waiting for the big reveal of the new Xiaomi flagship, along with its bigger-in-size sibling, the Mi 6 Plus. There have been many reports and speculations regarding Xiaomi Mi 6 specs, such as its camera set-up (supposedly dual), its processor (likely to be SND 835), etc.

However, recently there has been one new speculation with regards to a different piece of hardware. This time, it is quite negative, and may affect the performance of the phone if true. It is about the Mi 6 home button, which also serves as the fingerprint scanner. According to analyst Sun Changxu, the upcoming Xiaomi device will use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner like its predecessor, Xiaomi Mi 5s. This small part is also put under the front glass, similar to that of the iPhone 7.

mi 6 home button

However, because of its position, the scanner also serves as the Mi 6 home button, but it does not press down. Instead, a linear monitor is used to provide vibration feedback, also same as iPhone 7. This is the worrisome part: according to another analyst, @Mocha RQ on Weibo, the iPhone 7 uses a linear motor priced $10, while that of the Mi 6 home button costs just under $1. This may lead to less vibration feedback and low reliability for the device.

Mi 6 home button rumor: It’s still too early to tell

That is indeed some worrisome piece of information. However, that was just speculation, and we need to wait for official words. Do you think using cheap linear motor for Xiaomi Mi 6 home button may cause problems for the device, and the brand as well?

Nokia phones confirmed to come in May

Everyone now believes in the comeback of Nokia. More Nokia phones confirmed are coming soon this May. In case you have been waiting for so long, it is next month! There is another interesting update…

Nokia phones confirmed

Nokia phones confirmed to come in May: which ones are they?

After the release of its Nokia 6 and recent Nokia 6 Silver, HDM has shared its ambitious plans to launch more Nokia phones. The release is globally aimed at 120 markets. What rumors said was the release of Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. And they will not come until May. Today, we got confirmed by 2 more retailers. Carphone Warehouse said the same month for Nokia phones to show up.

Carphone Warehouse is the first retailer to open registration for all Nokia phones. The company also observed a great pre-registration. That showed a high level of interest from their customers. CPW is so excited to see what “comes to market in May”. However, CPW was not the only one retailer to confirm this. Retailer Clove had their words over the case. It has also listed all Nokia phones confirmed and their release date in May.

Nokia phones confirmed

In addition, CPW revealed a great interest for Nokia 3310. This is a 2017 version of the original and will get a new appearance. However, the phone retailer was not sure if it would come into real orders. CPW explained this might come from “nostalgic reasons”. Sometimes people just want to feel the past and therefore get to buy the phone “they used 15 years ago”. The two phones we expect to see the most are Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. They have passed some certifications at FCC and are very like to arrive this May.

Nokia phones confirmed: which one are you waiting for?

While Nokia fans are looking forward to the launch of Nokia Android phones, some may not be aware of the comeback. The Nokia 6 Silver sold out in minutes and is coming in more colors soon. Which one do you like the most?

Samsung investors is worrying about success, why?

Samsung is going to launch their newest flagship – the Galaxy S8 – soon, and is expected to be successful once more. However, Samsung investors seem to be worried about this, and with good reasons!

samsung investors

Samsung investors is worrying about success, why?

It is going to be a few weeks of only Samsung’s news again, with the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ becoming imminent. After the Galaxy Note 7 explosions last year, the S8 duo is expected to bring glory again for the Korean giant, and from the looks of the phones, we can be hopeful for Samsung. That, plus the huge profit despite the Note 7 woe also made the near future of Samsung pretty much secured. However, Samsung investors do not seem to have the same mindset!

On the stock market, Samsung is kind of losing Steam recently. It has gone up just 3% so far in April, a significant slow down from previous times. Some Samsung investors are actually questioning the company’s long-term growth potential, and whether the company can achieve double digit profit growth next year is up for debate. As of now, Samsung is still Asia’s most valuable company, but its operating profit is expected to just be 5.5% next year, compared to this year’s projected 61%, according to a Thomson Reuters survey of 16 analysts.

samsung investors

The drive behind Samsung’s growth despite what happened to the Galaxy Note 7 was the exploding market of memory chip. Demand has been higher than ever, as phone manufacturers look to upgrade the power of their phones. However, this growth is not expected to repeat next year, as more production methods and technology becoming available to solve the bottleneck problem. This year, the market has seen a growth of 32% so far, but next year it is only expected to be just 3%. With that in mind, Samsung investors have the right to worry.

Samsung investors worrying: Is it too soon?

With that said, in recent years, Samsung has been one of the more innovating companies in the world. Hopefully the company will alleviate the investors’ worries by staying on the right track. For us now, let’s all wait until the Galaxy S8 is released!

Make a tracking device out of an Android phone!

GPS on Android has so many uses, and it’s quite incredible. However, there is also another use for GPS on Android: tracking. That’s right, you can make a tracking device out of your Android smartphone!

tracking device

Make a tracking device out of an Android phone!

Any Android device released from 2014 onward has a feature built into itself, the Android Device Manager. This service will frequently relay your device’s location to Google’s servers so that Google knows the whereabouts of your phone/tablet. You can then use Google’s specific website to track the location of your device at any time. Of course, to do this, you have to activate the service first. Go to Settings > Personal > Security > Device Administration > Device Administrators > Android Device Manager, then tap activate. Then allow the permissions displayed. Finally, you go Google’s Android Device Manager website, sign in the account associated with your phone, and then you can start tracking.

If you don’t trust Google enough, there are also third-party applications which operates more or less the same. Some notable apps are Lookout and Prey. Anyway, once you activate the feature, if you want your phone to be a tracking device, the next step is to mount the phone with the object you want to track. For example, you want to track a car, just put your phone somewhere inside it, or mount it with a special tool, then do the tracking. It’s easier said than done, but that’s how it works.

tracking device

However, you have to take note that this is merely a makeshift tracking device, and it is better to have a dedicated GPS tracking device for a number of reasons. Firstly, your phone also has many apps running along with the GPS tracking, so will deplete the battery quicker than a GPS tracker. Secondly, GPS trackers are more accurate in pinpointing location than smartphones ever could. Last but not least, a GPS tracker is easier to mount, and is also easier and cheaper to replace than a smartphone, as you run the risk of losing the device quite often.

Android phone as tracking device: Just a temporary solution

With that said, making a tracking device out of your Android phone is just a temporary solution. Having a dedicated tracking device is much better for you, so consider your options!

Bayonetta PC now available, supports 4K!

Bayonetta PC now available, supports 4K!

Sega has recently announced Bayonetta PC version has been launched. It has been six years since the original game was first launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game is now available on Steam. With this re-release, there are quite a few improvements. The most notable is the 4K support. Plus, like all PC games, players can now control and adjust graphical options such as texture quality, texture filtering, anti-aliasing, shadow quality, and SSAO quality. HDR and 60fps gameplay is now also possible, Sega said.

What’s more, until April 25, Sega is giving everyone who purchases the Bayonetta PC version the upgrade to Digital Deluxe Edition free of charge. The Deluxe version includes five track soundtrack sampler, the digital artbook “from the Climax Edition, enhanced with even more concept art” (in Sega’s words), wallpapers, and avatars. It will also have Japanese and English voiceover and subtitles. You can see the Bayonetta PC running with enhanced graphics in the video below.

The last entry in the Bayonetta’s original storyline was Bayonetta 2, released in 2014, which was exclusive to the Wii U. Both the second game and the original was developed by Japanese studio Platinum Games. Aside from remastering the original game for PC, it is said that there is possibility of a third game in the franchise. It was designer Hideki Kamiya who revealed this this at last year’s E3. Allegedly, some outlines of the game has been written, and has been discussed internally. The possibility of the game is still open, and the company said that they are seriously going to look into it!

Bayonetta PC: Next step will be Bayonetta 3?

With that said, a third entry to the Bayonetta franchise is always possible. Until then you can enjoy the original game, with enhancements, on PC via Steam.
