Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 review: 5.2″, 3GB RAM

Samsung has definitely bring a lot of new stuff to the new Galaxy A5. First of all, the display department has been significantly upgraded. The Galaxy A5 2017 sports a 5.2″ AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels (Full HD). It displays colors very well, and there are color customization options (Settings > Display > Screen Mode). Design wise, this one is a real looker: there is a curved glass back, the frame is metal, Alway-on display (beware for battery drain!), and it also has one feature of high-end flagships: waterproof with IP68 certification!

As for performance, this phone is no slouch either. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Exynos 7880 chipset, which is said to be 36% more power efficient over the old one. Combined with 3GB RAM, it is quite powerful for most users. However, putting it beside flagships like the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, iPhone, or Pixel, the difference will show when doing heavy tasks. There is also 32GB of internal storage, and can be expandable by up to 256GB via microSD card.

galaxy a5 2017

Other Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 specs are also quite impressive. The phone features 16MP lenses for both the main and selfie camera. Upon usage, it produces great daylight photos, and decent night photos. However, as for video recording, it lacks stabilization and 4K recording, which is a bummer for those looking forward to this feature. The camera app has been revamped, you can quickly access it by double tapping the home button. The app interface is so much cleaner now. Lastly, the phone runs on Android 6 Marshmallow. However, the custom UI Grace from Samsung has tried its best to emulate the new Nougat OS, and it sure looks good.

Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 review: A phone worth buying

Samsung Galaxy A5 price is now Rs. 30,000. It is a very good price for a mid-range phone with the design of a flagship. Are you excited for this new phone in the A series?

Microsoft releases Beam for Xbox One: Easy interactions with streamers

Microsoft has just released Beam for Xbox One application, along with its streaming service for some Xbox One users from the Insider program. With this app, you can watch video streams of other people, chat with each other, find channels, video or stream the game you are playing. Beam has been acquired by Microsoft back in August last year. The notable aspect of this service is the low latency compared to other services, such as Twitch or Youtube Gaming.

Similar to Twitch and Youtube Gaming, Beam allows streaming live videos to the Internet, but with a much better latency, below 200ms. The other two are not too bad, but they lag behind, with latency of less than 10 seconds. Low latency means that there will be very good for interactions between the audience and streamers, and that is precisely why Microsoft bought Beam. Exclusive support for Xbox One also helps Microsoft compete with Twitch and Youtube Gaming in the gaming market worth $3.8 billion!

Furthermore, Microsoft is also preparing a lot of interacting features with Beam. Matt Salsamendi, head of Beam development, shared that Beam is a unique service in streaming game. It will enhance interaction between the audience and streamers to a level never seen before. One notable feature is that for every minute of watching on Beam, you will get 2 Sparks – the currency of Beam. You can use Sparks to interact with streamers, unlock emojis, increase XP, … About XP, every 5 minutes of watching via Beam, you are awarded 10XP.

Beam for Xbox One: An interesting service for streaming

With the promised feature, Beam seems to be a very interesting streaming service. It will be a heated competition in the streaming field, with Twitch, Youtube Gaming and now Beam. If you are a streamer, you can look forward to this service from Microsoft!

New screenshots of Final Fantasy VII Remake revealed!

If you have played the original Final Fantasy VII way back, you are sure to remember the first boss of the game, a giant scorpion-looking tank, guarding the Sector 1 Mako Reactor. Now, you can see what the battle would look like in the remake version with the screenshot above. Tetsuya Nomura, the game’s director, has revealed the screenshot at this year’s Magic Monaco event. From the screenshot, we can now confirm that the battle system will be similar to that of Kingdom Hearts series and Final Fantasy XV.

We also get a better look at the game’s interface. It looks clean and simple. However, one must wonder why there are “Materia” option at the start of the game. Also, one interesting point is that, both Barret and Cloud have more than 1000HP (they only had around 300 in the original at the start). Besides those, there were really nothing from Nomura. He shared that he planned to reveal a new video clip, but was advised against that by his colleagues. So, for now the screenshot is the only new information we have for this game.

final fantasy vii remake

Besides Final Fantasy VII Remake, we also get to see a new screenshot for Kingdom Hearts 3. This game has taken a while in development, since it was announced back in E3 2013. We can see from the picture that Sora – the main character – is wearing a much more casual-looking clothes, and is battling some sort of new Heartless enemy. We have known before that there would new Keyblades in this game. Both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 release date is not yet known, and we still have to wait for announcement.

Top 4 smartphone battery technologies of the future!

Smartphone Battery Technologies: A Brighter Future

Smartphone battery these days suck, but it won’t be long until we see better technologies. And surprisingly, some of them have already been commercialized. So, here’s the list of top 4 smartphone battery technologies of the future that is available today. First, Water Battery. Simply put, this battery can be recharged by being topped-up with water. This has not been commercialized yet but in theory, water battery could have 40 times the capacity of a normal battery.

The second technology is Bioo Plant Battery. Bioo is a battery that generates electricity from photosynthesis and is available for only $100. While the output is not high, it is possible to recharge your phone with this battery. Foldable Battery is the third technology on our list. A Korean company called Jenax has made an actual fodable battery, making bendable gadget and smart clothing possible. Their website lists all the tests and results, so you can give them a visit if you want to find out more about this technology.

Top 4 smartphone battery technologies of the future!

The last (but not least) technology is the Skin Battery. Skin batteries generate electricity by tapping into friction generated by contact between a device and human skin. This technology has been applied in many products, including medical and science. One of its application in the smartphone industry is wearable device. Just slap a device with this battery on your skin and start using it.

Smartphone Battery Technologies: When will these available on our phones?

Well, these technologies are still too expensive for a normal mobile device. We guess they would not be wildly available until a few more years. So now, you will just have to live with your “supposed smartphone” and wait for a while.
