Hideo Kojima, an icon in the game industry, was blocked from attending last year’s The Game Awards by his own company, Konami. However, this year, justice is served for the man – he finally got what he deserved!

After not being able to attend last year’s The Game Awards, this year Hideo Kojima will be presented he “Industry Icon” award on December 1. This has been confirmed by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley via Twitter recently. His tweet showed a picture of Kojima with the award title, while holding the whole world in his hand. Okay, that was just a small globe, but the important matter is that the creator of Metal Gear Solid will finally got the recognition he deserves!
Kojima has been the director of the entire Metal Gear series, and also helped develop most of its spin-offs. Other games where he also worked on were Snatcher, Zone of the Enders, and Boktai. He also directed P.T., a horror game whose demo was highly praised, but it never saw the light. He was also working on another Silent Hills game, which is rumored to be a collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, but the project was also cancelled eventually, to many gamers’ disappointment.
The cancellation of the said Silent Hills game was the source of the rumored ruined relationship between Konami and Kojima. That disagreement eventually led to Kojima himself leaving Konami. Later, Geoff Keighley announced that Hideo Kojima was not able to attend The Game Awards last year. This was because of his lawyers stopping him. Apple calls this book as a New Photo Book titled “Designed by Apple in California”. Inside this book there is absolutely no word but just 450 pictures of Apple products which they have presented. These images captured by a famous photographer Andrew Zuckerman. Thanks to this book, readers have the chance to look back on 20 years of Apple’s design. In a statement released recently, chief designer Jony Ive described the book as “a gentle collection of the products that they have designed during the time”. He hopes that it will be a helpful reference source of all studying design students.
It can be seen this book doesn’t target ordinary readers but aim to design lovers and those who love collecting books, or maybe for people who just enjoy watching figure rather than reading the letters. However, it’s just our guess cause the book is still available to everyone.The book has two variants. Smaller version feature 10.20 “x 12.75” ,while version “Plus” has greater size 13″ x 16.25″. It was unclear whether paper or material quality on the two variants will be different or not.

Just very recently, Qualcomm has announced a new chipset for the year 2017. It will be called Snapdragon 835. Upon launch, this new Snapdragon 835 will replace the SND 821 as the most powerful chipset of Qualcomm in the market. This just shows that Qualcomm keeps on improving and making new chips, which is very good for users. It also shows their weird naming convention as well. We will not know what the new chipsets would be called in the future. Don’t be surprised if the next one after SND 835 ill be numbered 900!
Back to the technical aspect, there are not many information regarding the specs of this new Snapdragon 835 chipset. The company just dropped little hints here and there to create more hype for the new chip. We know that the SND 835 will be produced by Samsung using their new 10nm FinFET process, and QuickCharge 4.0 technology will be employed as well. Compared to the SND 820, this means a 30% reduction in size, while being 27% faster and 40% more power efficient. That sounds very cool!
The QuickCharge 4.0, similarly, will make charging 20% faster the the present QuickCharge 3.0. This will provide up to 5 hours of use for smartphones with just minutes of charging! That is really impressive! We can already see in the future that battery will be less of a big concern for us. Chinese technology company, Huawei, partnered with Japan’s DOCOMO network has successfully tested the 5G network technology in large scale. It serves as an important step in promoting the new dynamic generation cellular, 5G network.
The world’s first large-scale 5G network technology field trial
Specifically, last year, experts at DOCOMO and Huawei joined the experiment in an outdoor test in Chengdu (China). In this field trial, Huawei can transmit a live video of the operation to its booth at CEATEC JAPAN trade exhibition in Makuhari Messe Exhibition Centre, Chiba (Japan). The trial aims to test multi-user supporting technology, the first large-scale test. They simultaneously connected 24 devices in the macro-cell mobile communication environment. This is a new technology proposed by Huawei. The average download speed is 1.34Gbps. It even reach the download speed up to 3.6Gbps in a 100MHz ultra-wide-band channels.
This year, once again, these two companies co-operated to carry out another field-trial test of 5G network in Yokohama, Japan. A total of 11.29GB was successfully sent in just one second thanks to the “macro cell coverage of a real urban application scenario”. Huawei explained that they used a base station working in the 4.5 GHz and 200 MHz bandwidth to achieve 0.5-millisecond latency. That is 10 times faster than that of LTE.
This success is a milestone of telecommunication history that both Huawei representative and Vice President and Managing Director of Docomo had to agree that it will decide the future of the 5G network. They also promise that Docomo’s 5G network will soon be commercialized in 2020 in Japhan. Besides, this event is a trigger to AT&T, a US carrier. They have announced their plan to finalize their 5G network standard in 2017 instead of 2018 as leaked before. They also hope to release the network in 2019, earlier than Docomo.
