Nokia is coming back and coming to China, the biggest market of the world. Specifically, China approved Nokia Oyj’s 17.6 billion dollar takeover of the French wireless-network rival Alcatel-Lucent SA. Besides, the last important antitrust approval necessary before the acquisition will be likely to be completed next year.

“The clearance in China completes the material antitrust review process required for the transaction,” said Nokia.

Finally Nokia made it after keenly waiting for the Chinese clearance. At first, the company worried that the local authorities would delay the deal since some big telecoms equipment providers such as Huawei and ZTE might be directly much affected by the agreement between Alcatel-Lucent (a French company) and Nokia (Finnish) businesses.

With this decision by China’s Ministry of Commerce, it helps Nokia broaden its product offering and reduce costs when taking on Sweden’s Ericsson AB and China’s Huawei Technologies Co. In addition, it is said that Nokia expects the deal to be completed in the H1 of 2016, which is also the year seeing the Nokia comeback.

“It should not be an issue at all as Nokia has already taken firm employment engagement in France,” said Sebastien Sztabowicz, an analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux. He also added that the filing of the public exchange offer for Alcatel-Lucent securities and an approval from the Nokia’s shareholders (needing 50 per cent of votes to be passed) would be the next step.

“Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent will continue to co-operate with the French government to obtain formal approval from the Ministry of Economy, after which Nokia will proceed with the filing of the previously announced public exchange offer for Alcatel-Lucent securities,” said Nokia.

 With this news and others related to Nokia these days, it is like Nokia is really beginning getting back on track. Hope that they will have good business in China as well in other parts of the world!

The device was launched back in 2013. And despite impressive twin displays, it was not selling very well, due to the low specs, I suppose. However, it is interesting to know all of those unique smartphone ideas that have been or will be launched during the smartphone history. What do you could be the next awesome unique smartphone feature that producer should focus on working? Because who knows, whatever we think impossible, can be turned real one day.

We have good news for fans of the Asus Zenfone smartphone Series. USB Type C is becoming a new trend in the present smartphone industry, with more and more producers like Asus featuring this specs for their Zenfone Series. In a recent press interview, Asus revealed they are mostly ready to get the update with the next generation of Asus Zenfone for the Asus Zenfone 3. Most likely the new Asus Zenfone 3 with USB Type C and hopefully 6GB RAM will launch in March 2016.

In details, TrustedReviews had an exclusive interview with Asus CEO Shih. When the interviewer asked whether Asus will adopt USB Type C for their future products like the Asus Zenfone 3 and Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom, he said: “I think Type C is the way to go, frankly speaking,”. “You will see the answer when you see the ZenFone 3.”

Interesting! In just one answer, Shih has hinted for us 2 important information. Firstly, the company is planning (maybe even working) on the next generation of world-famous Zenfone 2: The expected Asus Zenfone 3. Secondly, he confirmed that USB Type C is the one feature that will not be missed out by Asus, and they are going to feature it. How cool!

When asked about why the company did not adopt USB Type C for Zenfone 2 2015, since being ahead in terms of technology could always be a nice advantage for any smartphone OEM, Asus CEO had an explanation I personally find very convincing and wise. He said that, for Zenfone, in order to keep their reputation of good price and guaranteed quality, they have to consider very carefully about the expensese. ” For Zenfone, each cent counts” – he said.

Including a new technology for smartphone, which is USB Type C port in this case, usually costs a great deal. Of course Asus wants to be ahead in the game, but “But if you’re too much ahead, then sometimes it may be a disaster” – explained Asus chairman. That is why the Taiwanese giant always tends to be careful and practical in their business strategies.

Asus Zenfone 3 Release Date and Prices

Asus has been doing quite well in 2015. Just for several months they have had more than a couple of successful smartphones. Some but not all of them are Asus Zenfone 2, Asus Zenfone Selfie, Asus Zenfone Max.One of our previous rumors said that, the Asus Zenfone 3 will be launched in March 2016. It is very likely that the Asus Zenfone 3 Pricing will be consistent with Zenfone 2 Pricing, which is very good news. Recentlu, Tommy Incrosnatu, a designer, has brought us an attractive Nokia smartphone concept that is not only available for your viewing pleasure but also capable of 3D looks. It is considered as a device coming with beauty elements of Finnish nature. Though the design is quite simple, we still can see the taste of a premium machine. Don’t you think?

In addition, the designer explained on his website that the concept was to show how simplicity and 3D elements can be combined:

“I teamed up with 3D artists Oula and Miika to create something amazing. I’ve had this idea for years to create a concept phone and give it my take on a modern smartphone user interface.

I wanted to use desirable and simplified graphics, spiced up with photography. I also added some concept level ideas to the core applications, pushing for a well thought out GUI and some playful tricks.

The goal was to have fun and prove something to ourselves, but maybe we’ve ended up being too ambitious, doing things like 3D racing game graphics.

The final presentation style aims for the beauty of Finnish nature and the end format will be 60 second full-on TV-advert.”

However, apart from the pictures, we are informed of nothing related to the Nokia 3D specs.

In the end, we want to thank the designer for this beautiful Nokia phone and perhaps Nokia would consider bringing it to shelves next year when they come back. Who knows?

Sony Mobile has revealed that they are building a new phone factory in Thailand, which will be capable of producing several millions Sony Xperia smartphones a year from A to Z. This is such a big news for Sony fans around the world since this will be the first new factory Sony builds in the past 20 years. 

Earlier we have heard that, Sony may need to stop producing smartphones and start looking for “alternative options” if their profit won’t improve in 2016, which has saddened many Sony fans (including myself).  However, up to today, it seems like Sony is working hard to create their own miracle. The building of a brand new phone factory is the best indicator that Sony will not leave the smartphone game, at least in the near future.

Talking about Sony’s new phone factory in Pathum Thani province, Thailand, it will offer an end-to-end production (100% made by Sony without importing even the smallest parts of the smartphones). Production at the new factory is set to start by 2016, though we don’t know exactly which month yet.

From our reports, Sony is expecting an investment of around several billion Japanese yen (1 billion Japanese yen is approx. 83 million USD). The last phone factory Sony built was in Beijing in 1995.

Financial reports from the Japanese smartphone OEM have claimed that, Sony was suffering from a huge loss of $1.82 billion (220 billion yen) at the end of Q1 2015. However, the company is having huge plans for the end of this year, when the holiday season is approaching close by, in the hope of turning the situation around. For instances, Sony Mobile Philippines has just officially released the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact in the Philippines. Long-awaited Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, world’s first 4K display smartphone will follow in the coming weeks.

We hope that the establishment of the new Sony factory in Thailand will be a positive movement in Sony Mobile business strategies. It would be so sad if we don’t see Sony Xperia smartphones available in the market some day

Nokia concepts that are being expected to go real after Nokia come back in 2016 are no longer strange to many of us smartphone lovers. 1. Nokia Swan VS Nokia C1: originality

Nokia C1 is famous for being the first Android smartphone Nokia ever made, if it really comes true after the Nokia come back set to happen in 2016. As I mentioned more than once above, since these devices have their different target, they were developed very directly into their orientation. However, it is nice to have a full review of 2 of the most popular Nokia concepts to date: one is pure product of creativity, the other is meant to be manufactured and used.

Living in the Philippines, you should be proud that we have more than one local smartphone producers: Myphone, Cherry Mobile etc. However, not many of them are doing very impressive business. If you look at Xiaomi, the 5-year-old Chinese OEM, started very small, but already achieved huge market shares with popular products used worldwide.

If we learn their secrets, I hope our local smartphone producers will be as or even more successful than Xiaomi

Xiaomi Success Story!

Whenever we mention Chinese smartphones, what we think of in the first seconds is Xiaomi. Moreover, it is now the world’s 4th largest smartphone maker and loved by a lot of people. So, how can this just-5-year-old company (founded in April, 2010) be so successful like that? Let’s check out the following reasons and you may even odd one(s) out or add more at the end of the post 😉 !

“XiaoMi has also managed to harness the power of social media by not only broadcasting their messages and announcements but by actively engaging with their customers. Engineers are routinely encouraged to speak directly to consumers and use gathered feedback to refine software.”

1. Price – Apple cannot be “compared” with it!

That’s true! Apple iPhone prices cannot be “compared” with Xiaomi smartphones. We can easily see most Xiaomi products in general and phones in particular are have pretty affordable price tags. Also, they sells online for most of the time. As a result, the costs of sales, overheads as well as other things related to distributors or retailers are reduced significantly.

However, we should remember that selling phones at the prices near their actual ones cannot last forever, and Xiaomi has also realized that. In fact, Xiaomi was inspired by the Amazon’s model which is only covering the cost of the devices but making money from selling the content. Therefore, at the moment, we can purchase many Xiaomi handsets without worrying too much about the payment since they are very budget-friendly.

2. Specifications – Not cheap at all in the inside!

Well, Xiaomi phones may be cheap, at least much cheaper than Apple’s or Samsung’s machines, but they are not “cheap” at all in terms of specifications. Xiaomi seems to be quite ambitious when wanting to compete with others not only on price but also on specs. However, somehow they made it. Their smartphones usually have high quality screens and reasonable batteries. Besides, the company has developed their own OS called MIUI based on Android, then the products can sport both new interesting features found on an Android machine and special ones made for Xiaomi devices only.

In the end, Xiaomi’s key strategy is to produce good quality handsets at a lower price range, which has been helping them to stay firmly on the mobile map so far.

3. Market – China first!

Of course once a firm is getting bigger and bigger in terms of size and reputation, they would want to expand the business globally. Xiaomi is not an exception. They have opened some online stores in some Asian countries as well as in other continents such as Europe and America. Though, the manufacturers is said to still keep focused on Chinese market with 97% of the local shipments. Furthermore, Xiaomi is not likely to rush into markets where Apple and Samsung are the dominant.

4. Promotion – They solved this question quite successfully!

So, this is kind of an important decisive point in most companies’ success. Nonetheless, Xiaomi started with flash style sales with very little or no advertising. A lot of units were sold quickly and discussed on most over China’s vibrant social media. Then, people talked to each other and it went on and on. Obviously, Xiaomi will not give up such an effective marketing channel.

On the other hand, Xiaomi knows how to get close to customers. Their engineers are encouraged to speak directly to consumers, gather and use the feedback to improve the software. Maybe that is also the reason why Xiaomi has many dedicated fans nowadays.

5. Design – Developing in their own way!

We cannot deny that Xiaomi design often reminds us of Apple at first. Nevertheless, as time passes by, the phones look more beautiful, premium and special in their own way. Xiaom is also planning for the birth of an all-alloy machine which is promising to mark a new successful chapter of Xiaomi as for the design. Let’s wait and see!

Conclusion

Xiaomi is a big name in the Chinese and international smartphone industry. Their new product usually draws much people’s attention thanks to its good price and specs. Despite still being young on the market, Xiaomi is able to be listed in consumers’ top options. Good job, Xiaomi! Hope that they will develop more in the future 🙂 And moreover, I hope that our local Philippines smartphone producers will surpass Xiaomi soon.
