Huawei has been doing great lately. The company became popular with many amazing flagships that customers love, namely: the triplet Huawei P8, P8 Lite and P8 Max; Huawei Ascend Mate 7, Huawei Nexus and a line of Huawei Honor smartphones.

According to some rumors, another new Huawei smartphone with Honor-branded has surfaced in China, carrying interesting render and attracting good attention.

Look at the picture of the phone render, you can see the most attractive point of the device: it has 3 cameras on the back.

In terms of design, based merely on what we know, this new Huawei seems to be made out of metal and sports really nice design. The handset looks almost bezel-less at 2 sides. The bezels on the top and bottom are also not really thick. In general, the phone has a very nice and elegant design.

Well, although we have witness some very new smartphone concepts over the past few months. For example, we knew about Huawei Honor 6 Plus which carried 2 cameras on its back. And then Lenovo Vibe Shot was launched with triple LED flash.

In the world of creativity and innovation we are living in, there is no idea rejected. So, no matter how odd it could be, we can say that the possibility of new Huawei smartphone becoming real is really high.

And the fact is that, if you look at the picture below, this new phone concept got certified by TENAA already, which means it will launch in the near future. The question left is, WHEN?

Nowadays, more and more non-professional photographers among us love to take pictures of everything in our daily life: our pets, our children, our travel, neighborhood and so on. However, not all of us know how to make best use of our smartphones. Therefore, even devices with impressive cameras like LG G4, Lenovo Vibe Shot or Huawei P8 will not guarantee beautiful shots.

Try these simple rules and you will finally be happy with your photos.

1. Sometimes guidelines do help you take good pictures.

There is one simple rule for a good picture: “Rule of Thirds”. The rule proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into thirds (horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts, either equal or not as follows:

The guideline is that you should place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines to make your photo more balanced and attractive. It’s also proved by many studies that human’s eyes go to one of the intersection points most of the time rather than the image’s center.

2. Forget the camera’s zoom, get closer to the object!

Yes, you should not use your camera’s zoom function because it will make your pictures not clear and look as if they are made of a lot of small dots and marks. Instead, you can either crop your photo or try holding a pair of binoculars up to your lens.

3. Create a tailor-made tripod for your smartphone

A binder clip is easy to find and very simple to be made into a smartphone’s special tripod. Keeping your phone stand still on a surface contribute greatly to the quality of the pictures taken.

4. Fill the frame

If you are taking a photo of a friend in front of a beautiful landscape, don’t just zoom in his/her face. Fill the frame with the amazing backgrounds to give a sense of how splendid it it.

Vice versa, even if you want to focus on the landscape, the presence of a “little human” in contrast with majestic nature  will make the whole picture more impressive.

5. Play with reflections for interesting shots.

Before choosing your angle, look around to fine some puddles or water spots and create a new look into the old thing.

6. Care about lighting

Compared to DSLRs, smartphone cameras have very small sensors. Therefore, they capture less light and less details. Lighting is a key element in producing high-quality images. Perfect lighting to take some shots are the soft sunlight in the morning and late afternoon. Contrary to many people think, the harsh light at noon is not the best for your pics.

7. Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation before applying filters

Filters can be found free everywhere on mobile apps like Instagram. However, if you want a nice picture which doesn’t just look like many others in terms of colors, try to play with other tools before applying the filter. You can adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, vignettes and shadows to boot the photo’s light and resolution.

8.  Use the sun for dramatic silhouettes.

Admit it, sunset and sunrise are two of the most beautiful times in the days to take a nice picture. Shot with the sun right behind your subject will create intense shadows and dramatic silhouettes that makes the photo look great.

Yesterday, on June 8, Apple has just announced the next version of iOS, unsurprisingly called iOS 9. This latest version of Apple’s mobile platform is targeted to make their iphones smarter and more powerful. First improvement is the major upgrade to Siri virtual assistant. This is a new intelligent search assistant, greater speed and security.

Basically, Siri is designed to be like a version of Google. It offers app suggestions based on your preferences and gives users information about the distance to their destinations. A special feature called Proactive lets Siri see what apps are already on the phone. Therefore, it can suggest useful ones to help complete the tasks users want to do.

Apple revealed that Siri can also look into your inbox to ID incoming calls that aren’t in your address book. All of this is wrapped into a new user interface for Spotlight that appears when you swipe down on a home screen in iOS.

iOS9 is also more interesting for the iPad Split View allows two apps to be open and active at the same time on the same screen. Picture in Picture scales a video down in size so you can keep watching a TV show while you reply to an email.

iOS 9: boost your phone’s security

Security has been improved in iOS 9 to help fend off hackers. iOS 9 will support all devices currently running iOS 8, available as a free update in the fall. Also, it will gives your iphone and ipad 4 extra battery hours to browse all the apps you want.

The iOS 9 developer beta is available today, and the public beta will be available in July. Public release is scheduled for September at the earliest. We will keep you updated about this new flatform iOS 9 from the giant Apple!

Do you still remember the time when just a leaked photo of the Meizu MX5 immediately attracted the attention of so many people over the internet? This Meizu’s flagship features a gorgeous body with bezel-less design.

And according to recent reports from China, Meizu is working on a newer device, a “Pro” version of this flagship. While the MX5 is not yet launched, they are expecting that the Meizu MX5 Pro will be finished soon to come along with its sibling.

Leaked information about the 6.0” QHD Meizu MX5 Pro has just made their way online, and this monster is expected to be another bomb that will drive the internet insane!

First to be noticed, the MX5 Pro will feature Exynos 7420 SoC. If you still don’t recognize, this is the same chip that powers the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Also, a 4GB RAM is cramped into the device, making sure it performs smooth and powerful.

As camera is a good selling point that attracts many customers into buying a device, Meizu promises to ship impressive snappers for this MX5 Pro also. With 20.7mp of MX4 Pro camera, we can totally expect the same or even better resolution from this new guy.

In terms of battery life, it is leaking that the Meizu MX5 Pro will sport 4,000 mAH capacity to better supports all other performances. It also comes with a fingerprint reader as to update with newest tech for the newest flagship.

In terms of the design, it appears to have a glass back and is easy on the eyes.

Since our last post about Bluboo X500, more leaking information has been found about this beautiful flagship. New renders show Bluboo X500 is actually a very elegant-looking 5.0” device. It seems to come along with glass and metal body, and is implied to feature a curved panel.

The phone is said to have a 2.5D display, alloy chassis plus a physical home button. In terms of specs, Bluboo X500 is going for the popular 4GB RAM and powerful Mediatek Helio X10 chipset together with LTE support. If this is true, the X500 will run very smoothly for heavy tech users.

In comparison with its previous flagship, Bluboo X550, the X500 packs a smaller battery capacity, only 3,050 mAH compared to 5,300 mAH. However, we hope that it can make up for the less battery by much better RAM since the X550 only sports a 2GB RAM.

The Bluboo X550 price in Philippines will be around PHP 7,600. We don’t know yet about further specs like X500 camera, OS, processor etc. However, we are looking for Bluboo X500 launch date and price in PH soon in the next month. Stay tuned for more updates to come!

Zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM has brought the mobile industry up to a whole new level. Ever since, users have been falling in love with and seeking for devices with the same powerful RAM. Let’s take a look as the 7 4GB RAM smartphones in 2015:

1. ASUS ZenFone 2: pioneer in bringing 4GB RAM to smartphones

The Taiwanese company had made a huge hit in terms of sales since they introduced the Zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM. The phone soon went to other international markets and was welcomed excitedly by customers. Many Smartphone fans are in love with devices that provide microSD card slots that allow them to expand internal storage.  If you are one of them, you may be happy to know that Microdia, a company based in San Jose, California, USA had cramped unbelievably huge 512GB into a microSD card. Yes, exactly enormous 512GB capacity!

As Microdia revealed at Computex 2015, their newest product has a capacity of 512GB, making it the world’s biggest microSD up to now.

Obviously Microdia Xtra Elite isn’t targeted to everyday smartphone users, even if the card will  work well in any device that supports the SDXC format. Instead, the Microdia Xtra Elite microSD card is aimed at professional photographers who need massive storage for photos and video.

The card features SDXC 4.0 UHS-II standard that promises data transfer rates of up to 300MBps, about three times faster than the previous SDXC 3.0 UHS-I version.

Microdia is setting up to bring the Xtra Elite on sale this July. Predictably, such a huge amount of space doesn’t come cheaply.

Priced at $1,000, the Microdia Xtra Elite  is more expensive than a Galaxy S6 Edge, which is one of 2015’s beasts. This means the Microdia Xtra Elite price  in Philippines at launch date will be no less than PHP 45,300. Oh WOW, it’s worth a fortune, isn’t it?

Fans around the world are looking for a smaller and more affordable version. We may also find a 64GB model that comes at around $15.

A microSD card that is even more expensive than a high-end smartphone may sound crazy to many people. However, Microdia Xtra Elite would be helpful for many others who seek extra storage for their devices.

At the beginning of this year, many rumors said that Huawei is going to create a new Google Nexus device together with LG. A lot of people are getting more excited due to some recent revelations from a Chinese analyst named Pan Jiutang about the upcoming Nexus specs by Huawei.

It is said that the Huawei-made Nexus will use Samsung’s 5.7-inch 2K AMOLED screen. Besides, it also will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

However, this is quite different from what we expected. Many people thought that Huawei would make the new Nexus with its own SoC. Even Huawei’s decision of featuring a 2K screen surprises people since it will harm the battery life. Additionally, Huawei Nexus maker’s executive used to say that 1080p was good enough for a compact phone. If the news on Huawei Nexus turns out to be true, it somehow proves that Google must have insisted on Huawei using Qualcomm chipset and 2K screen for the next Nexus phone.

On the other hand, some claims that the new Huawei Nexus will feel less attractive. Nonetheless, for a flagship phone produced by a well-known Chinese manufacturer in terms of hardware, it probably will not change people’s eagerness much.

To wrap up, it is likely that the Huawei Nexus is going to produce will feature a 2K screen and Snapdragon 810 processor. It could be because of some strict rules made by Google, which seems to go against what Huawei has planned. Anyways, we haven’t heard any official confirmation from Google or Huawei for the above information yet. Therefore, we still can help suggest good things for the coming smartphone.

At Computex 2015, Asus has unveiled a dream flagship, a new Zenfone that is dedicated to taking the best selfie shots. You are right, it has been leaked over the internet for the past couple of days: the Asus Zenfone Selfie. Though the press release did not reveal details about its launch, according to Asus CEO Jerry Shen, the smartphone can be available starting July, 2015. Hopefully we will have Asus Zenfone Selfie Philippines soon this year.

As the name suggests, Zenfone Selfie packs 13MP cameras on the front and back. The selfie shooter comes with a number of face-enhancing features such as real-time ‘beautification’, dual real-tone flash and laser focus for sharper face snaps. Also, this is the world’s first smartphone to have laser auto focus for selfies. Asus says that these features are ideal for “capturing life moments”, planning to make their fans amazed!

“I’m not the only narcissist in this room, we all want to be beautiful, right?” Asus’s design director, Jen Chuang, shared at the press release, just before she held up the device and snap a selfie of herself.

“At night or in a party, you might not usually be able to capture anything, but with our colour-merging tech, we can increase light sensitivity by 400 percent,” added Chuang. “Macro focusing goes as close as 6cm to bring all the details out you don’t see” – perhaps she is knowing the customers’ concern too well!

Asus ZenFone Selfie: Asus Zenfone 2 with enhanced cameras

In term of specs, the ZenFone Selfie is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, not Intel Atom processors like other Zenfone 2 series. Other Zenfone Selfie specs are pretty much the same from Zenfone 2. The new device features  5.5-inch IPS display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, LTE, 2GB RAM and updated Android Lollipop.

For now, we don’t know anything about Asus ZenFone Selfie Philippines price yet. But compared to other variants of the Zenfone 2, we assume the Zenfone Selfie price won’t be more than $300, which is around 13,5K in our currency. Also, keep in mind that, there is no news about in which countries the device will be available, but we hope to have Zenfone Selfie Philippines one day in the near future.

How much would you pay for this new smartphone?

Finally the long rumored Meizu MX4 Ubuntu edition has gone on sale in China last May with an official price of 1799 Yuan. This means Meizu MX4 Ubuntu price in Philippines is about PHP 13K. Let’s take a look at the device specifications to find out how good it is.

The MX4 uses Canonical’s Ubuntu Mobile operating system which saves the phone from going crash when used continually in a long time, according to the users who tested such special MX4 version. 

As far as we know, Meizu MX4 Ubuntu version is a product of the co-operation between Meizu and Ubuntu, a Debian-based Linux operating system. It is a glossy-looking phone with an alloy body and back cover with two color options: silver and gold. The screen bezel is only 2.6mm along with a 5.4-inch (1920×1142, 418ppi) display as you can see in the following picture.

Other MX4 specs include MediaTek MT6595 octa-core 2.2GHz processor, LTE, PowerVR G6200 GPU, and 2GB RAM. Besides, Meizu MX4 Ubuntu camera is 20.7MP rear cam backed by Sony IMX220 Exmor RS sensor. This is quite impressive since pictures taken by the phone will become even sharper with 0.3 second shutter speed. Users are promised to have great experience taking photos with the handset.

However, while the company focus on main camera, the front shooter features very modest 2MP camera, which is not attractive at all for smartphones these days.

However, please keep in mind that, Meizu China just launched this smartphone for their local market up to now. We will have to wait a bit more for the international release. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can welcome Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Philippines.

Asus Zenfone series all get update to Android Lollipop

Asus Zenfone 2 has been receiving flows of attention over the internet lately with amazing 4GB RAM and newest Android Lollipop that users love. At the same time, other previous Asus smartphones Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 still stuck with Kitkat.

Interestingly, from the beginning of June 2015, Asus officially started to update all of the three devices into Lollipop via OIA and direct download from Asus’s forums. The update includes improvements, additions, and even some removals.

With the new OS update, changes Asus Zenfone series get are:

• Removal of pre-installed apps like battery widget, PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient, and Magic Smoke Wallpapers
• New lockscreen with removed standalone wallpaper and weather details
• Revamped Dialler and Contacts
• Removal of in-call animation and cover
• Addition of My Ocean wallpaper
• Day Scene Live Wallpaper
• TripAdvisor
• ASUS auto-start service manager app
• Improved VOIP phone call and music function

The Zenfone 5 A500KL was the first to receive Lollipop, followed by the Zenfone 5 A500CG and the A501 CG are also receiving updates via OTA and direct downloads. The Zenfone 4 AC400CG also gets Lollipop, under the same method.

Huawei managed to create a nice balance when made a cheaper, more affordable version of their P8 flagship and still keep the design identity. The P8 Lite inherits many of the P8 design , though the phone is now made out of plastic instead of metal.

However, to give the phone a more premium look, the Huawei P8 Lite body has a metallic trim running along two sides. In general, it still looks the same elegant as its bigger brother Huawei P8, but is much more affordable.
