10 best Android Phablet for 2015: huge 5.5” screen and bigger
As the smartphone market is developing with a rocket speed, there are wider and wider varieties for users to choose from. Big-screen smartphones, aka phablets (phone+tablet) are among the favorites nowadays for many reasons.
But first, we want you to have a brief idea of what make a device called “phablet” and how this is different from other smartphones or tablets:
- Screen size between 5.3″ to 6.9″ at super high resolution at least Full HD. If it’s 7″ at low resolution, it’s more like a tablet with phone built-in.
- Must be pocketable (somewhat if you have a big pocket) ready for suit pockets, jacket pockets, cargo pants, etc.
- Must have really small bezel, ultra narrow in fact and…
- Super slim, ultra thin chassis to differentiate it from your small tablets.
- Mostly premium devices, with high density screens, amazing built quality, high end specifications and features packed to the brim.
In this post, we generate here 10 of the best Android phablet, already or to-be available in 2015. If you are a fan of this huge device, take a look and have your consideration!
1. ZTE Star 3 Android phablet
ZTE Star 3 Specs:
According to some reports, the Star 3 will own a 5.5-inch 2,160 x 3,840 pixel resolution display, giving the display a pixel density of 808ppi. Also note that the bezel is listed at a mere 0.55mm, nearly edge-to-edge. Other than that, Star 3 will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. We expect that ZTE will equip their handset with 3GB or 4GB RAM, instead of 2GB RAM built in Star 2, and larger battery like 3,000mAh or so, not just 2,400mAh batt as the former’s.
As for camera, Star 3 may remain the 13MP rear dual cam, but of course, if the company can improve the shooters to more than 13MP, the phone’s gonna be awesome. Besides, there can be two color options: dark gray and shiny blue.

Elephone P8000 is going to keep the fingerprint sensor on the phone’s rear. Besides, it boasts a 5.5-inch1080p display and 3GB RAM. It looks like Elephone has found out a better choice for their next phone when building the newer MediaTek MT6753 catering “Worldmode LTE” in P8000. As a result, Elephone P8000 will be able to support all 4G networks all over the world.
Different from the 3,450mAh battery of Elephone P7000, P8000 will have more advantages when owning a 4,200mAh batt. This is going to be a worth-considering option for those who want their phone to last more than 24 hours. On the other hand, price is also a point that can make Elephone P8000 a good choice. According to some reliable sources, this new handset will come with a price tag of about $209.99 (which means Elephone P8000 price in Malaysia can be RM770). It is obviously cheaper than its elder brother.

The phone has been certified at TENAA and said to pack pretty powerful specs. With a 5.5-inch 2K screen, Philips i999 will become the very first phone in the house to sport that feature. Besides, it uses 3D arc tech to create better curvature, developed on the basis of 2.5D. On the other hand, the device will come with 3GB RAM and 2.5GHz quad-coreSnapdragon 801 processor. The focus points on this latest smartphone are the currently popular fingerprint scanner and narrow-bezel design, maybe with metal casing.
On the other hand, Philips i999 camera is also a beast. It has a 8MP front shooter, definitely going to satisfy many selfie lovers, and a 20MP sensor with dual Philips LED flash which is a very famous product of the company. However, despite such high-end Philips i999 specs, the smartphone just runs Android Kitkat 4.4.3 version. This could be a minus for Philips to consumers’ way of thinking.

Gionee Elife E8 Launch: 6”, 2K display and unbelievable 120MP Pictures come true!
Together with Gionee Marathon M5, Gionee Elife E8 has recently been introduced at its launch event. After so many leaks spread away, finally it’s officially unveiled but with more surprises, the camera’s ability to be specific.
As you remember, the unique selling point of Gionee Elife E8 is its ability to take 120MP photos instead of just 100MP like we heard. Before Gionee, we had OPPO Find 7 which first surprised the smartphone world by its 50MP picture capability. So, it seems like Gionee is trying their best to impress consumers with the double pic quality.
Looking closer to the Gionee Elife E8 launch Specs, we learn that the handset is powered by MediaTek MT6795 (aka Helio X10) octa-core 64-bit CPU and 3GB RAM. Additionally, there are 64GB of storage and a microSD card slot to expand to memory if you wish to. On the other hand, Elife E8 owns a 6″ 2K screen, fingerprint scanner, 3,520mAh battery and Amigo UI 3.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Gionee Elife E8 Launch: Amazing Camera
And of course, we cannot forget the star of the show! It’s the Elife E8 camera combo including a 24 mega-pixel primary camera and 8 megia-pixel secondary selfie snapper. We used to wonder why a 24MP cam can produce 120MP photos, and now we have the answer: Thanks to software. In other words, the sensor takes advantage of PDAF (phase detection autofocus) to have an extremely fast focus speed from 0.08 to 0.20 seconds, according to Gionee company. That’s really fast. As for the front cam, 8MP can make your selfies look great!
Last but not least, we as well as many other consumers care about the price. Gionee Elife E8 launch price is set at 2,299 Yuan (about PHP 16,750 may seem to be the Gionee Elife E8 price in Philippines). Do you think that is reasonable?
In conclusion, Gionee new flagship smartphone this time really stands out. Its specs are strong enough; design is eye-catching, and the camera’s capability is awesome: 24MP shooter takes 120MP photos! How does that sound?

Doogee Y100 Pro: the best-looking mid range smartphone to launch!
Lately we got to know about Doogee when it introduce a Xiaomi Mi4 copy with huge 6,000 mAH battery: the Doogee S6000. Besides making a famous flagship’s clone, the company also has some worthy original devices. For instances, the newest flagship Doogee Y100 Pro is being one of the best-looking devices in the mid-level smartphone market.
Doogee Y100 Pro: budget-friendly yet still gorgeous
Knowing their own status in the competitive smartphone market, the company realized good potential in entry-level to mid-range category. In the time when a smartphone is not just a call-and-text design, people do care a lot about how a handset looks. That’s where the idea of a beautiful budget phone came in.
According to the company, the Doogee Y100 Pro, also called the Valencia 2 Y100 Pro, will “change your opinion of how a smartphone should look”. Claiming a “seamless design” and “exquisite craftsmanship”, Doogee features their newest creation to really make an impact.
Doogee Y100 Pro price and specs
Doogee Y100 Pro is carrying a super friendly price tag of 120USD. This means Doogee Y100 Pro price in the Philippines (if it comes to our country) will be around PHP 5,436, or slightly higher. This costs as much as our domestic Cherry Mobile Fuze. What do you think about the price compare to Doogee Y100 Pro design and specs?
In terms of specs, the device sports an effective 64 bit quad-core MT6735 processor, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage. There’s a 13 mega-pixel camera on the rear on the device, which is paired with an 8 mega-pixel front. Most Chinese budget phones do dual SIM, and the Y100 Pro is also not an exception.
Doogee Y100 Pro has very fancy design together just good but not impressive specs compared to trending smartphones these days. The device is targeted to buyers that are looking for stylish devices and not so much more in terms of specs. Obviously, we can not deny that the Doogee Y100 Pro would make a nice choice among the multiple options in Chinese budget phone market.
HTC new Hero product to release in October 2015, packing Windows 10 OS?
HTC’s latest smartphone – the One M9 – which was announced earlier this year during the Mobile World Congress event, and was released just last April 2015. Up to now, the new flagship doesn’t seem to perform as well as expected, causing the company quite an amount of problems. Especially when its predecessor HTC One M8 was performing so impressively.
HTC new Hero product to save the company sales?
In an attempt to control the loss of sales and regain the brand’s popularity in the smartphone market, HTC just revealed leaking information about a “HTC new Hero product” to be launch this October.
HTC new Hero product to powered by Windows 10 OS?
For now, there is not much to know yet about the new mysterious device. But HTC claimed that this would be something totally different, something that can create a hit in their sales figures. From what we know, we can predict that the new smartphone will be a product between HTC and Windows phone, packing the latest Windows 10 OS.
The question being asked is: What could it be, the HTC new Hero product? Would it be a mid-range phone that fits different types of users and easy to launch in international markets? Or would it be a premium phones targeting tech addicts? Would it win at price, design, specs or a combination of all?
Hard to say whether HTC new Hero product will take it for now but if it works out we could be seeing quite some change. And if nothing change, hopefully we will know more about the product in October.

As for the processor, the handset will be powered by the new Kirin 935 chip, also the one that’s built in Huawei P8. Besides, it owns 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Recently, Asus just revealed with DigiTimes a very cool secret: more than 1.5 millions Asus smartphones were sold last month, May 2015. The smartphone department of this company started to gain profits.
Asus smartphones: loved by new and old users
Since the release of latest Asus Zenfone 2 with amazing 4GB RAM and 13MP camera, users all around the world became so much in love with the brand. News, pictures and reviews have been continuously updated on websites, blogs and forums.
What we like most about Asus is that the company does not only care about its newly-launched devices, but the previous ones also got some improvement after time. For example, the Asus Zenfone 4, 5, 6 just got updated into Android Lollipop earlier in June. This explains why the company soon became so popular among users.
Let’s talk more about the huge sales phenomenon in May. Asus is crediting the success to multiple variants of the Zenfone 2 and the release of such device to international markets outside of Asia, especially the USA.
Asus smartphones: high expectation for the future
The company is targeting to reach 2 millions Asus smartphones sold in June with the help of Asus Zenfone Selfie, expected to be launched late this June. The Zenfone Selfie is expected to be launched in Asia, India, Europe, and maybe the United States. The device is like a Zenfone 2 with better camera, featuring a FHD 5.5” display, Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor, 13MP for both rear and front cameras, potential to attract enormous flow of attention.
The company also doesn’t expect its sales figures to stop increasing, hoping a huge leap in July and continue to the end of 2015. For the whole year, their target is to reach from 17 millions to 25 millions Asus smartphones distributed worldwide.
Beside Asus smartphones products, the company is focusing to boost sales on their tablet lines. Right now, the new Asus Zenpad tablet with powerful Intel processor is also a hot item from the Giant.
We all love their products thanks to powerful RAM, great specs and super friendly price. Hope the Taiwanese guys will do great this year. Have you got yourself any Asus smartphones and contribute to their sales phenomenon?
Lenovo PB1-770N unveiled with big screen to fight against Huawei P8 Max
The Chinese agency TENAA just revealed with us an interesting piece of information. Lenovo is working on a brand new smartphone with has a big screen near to a tablet. Although Lenovo did not decide an official name for the new product yet, it is currently holding a model number to distinguish from other devices: Lenovo PB1-770N.
Rumors have been leaking implying that the new phablet is targeted as a direct competitor to one of Huawei‘s most popular flagships : the P8 Max.
Lenovo PB1-770N: leaking rumors of Huawei P8 Max’s rival
The Lenovo PB1-770N seems to take the design inspiration from Apple iPhone 6 when featuring a uni body made out of metal. There is one and only one small piece that used plastic material: the part near Lenovo PB1-770N main camera on the back. The plastic is said to maximize the power and stability of the device’s antenna.
Also from the rumors, we got to know that the device’s dimension is measured 186.6 x 96.6 x 7.7mm, with a 6.8 inch display screen, which is quite huge for a smartphone.
Lenovo PB1-770N specs
Spec-wise, Lenovo’s new phablet is expected to come with 4G LTE connectivity, “maybe” a 3 or 4GB RAM and octa-core processor. Also, Lenovo PB1-770N sports 16-megapixel rear, will offer dual-SIM support and runs over Android OS.
Huawei P8 Max seems to be having a real rival coming in the near future, since the Lenovo PB1-770N already made it through TENAA. To be honest, we are excited to witness another tough yet interesting battle between these two flagships from Lenovo and Huawei, if the Lenovo PB1-770N really becomes true.
From your side, do you prefer a smartphone that has such huge screen? Will it make your actions easier to performed and apps better to experience? Or will it be not convenient to carry such large device? Share with us your opinion 🙂 And how big is your current phone?
Blackberry Oslo: the return of the Giant with Snapdragon 810, 13MP and signature design?
Several days ago, a gallery of live photos showcasing the unannounced BlackBerry Oslo made it everywhere over the internet. Rumors are indicating that the smartphone is a look-alike of Blackberry’s previous Blackberry Passport. This is the first time we’re getting a look at the actual device, though the Canadia company unveiled few renders earlier back in April.
BlackBerry Oslo: a replica in design of the company previous Blackberry Passport device?
BlackBerry Oslo features slightly round corners. The device goes with a metal frame and the back is covered by textured rubber. The Blackberry smartphone signature, 3-row QWERTY keyboard will obviously appear in this flagship.
Blackberry Oslo Specs
In terms of specs, Blackberry Oslo packs a square-ish, 1440 x 1440 pixels display. The device is powered by Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM. It also sports beautiful 13MP rear camera and 3,450 mAH battery.
Well, at the time when we already have smartphones with powerful 4GB RAM like Asus Zenfone 2 and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro vs huge 4,000mAH battery (or even more) like the Lenovo K80 and Vivo X5 Pro, 3GB RAM and 3,450 mAH don’t sound really appealing. But to be really fair, such combination that Blackberry Olso carries is quite impressive. If nothing changes, by the time Blackberry Olso launch date, it could attract huge attention from consumers thanks to the famous brand names going together with unique design and good specs.
It’s said that the BlackBerry Oslo should be officially announced later this month, on June 30, and could be released shortly after that in Europe and Asia. And for now, we know no more about whether it will arrive in Philippines or not; as well as the Blackberry Oslo price when released. Hopefully it will offer a soft price tag so that more people can experience this Giant’s return after a long time being silent.
ZTE Star 3 could be the first smartphone with 4K display!
Full HD, Quad HD and even 2K displays are awesome yet common specs in smartphones nowadays. But what do you think about something with even better resolution? What do you think about a 4K display on a Chinese smartphone in the near future? Well, rumors had it said, ZTE is working on a new flagship, the ZTE Star 3, that is expected to pack amazing 4K display.
ZTE Star 3 and the 1st 4K display dream
ZTE seems to be company with crazy (and great) ideas, as its upcoming Star 3 smartphone could be the world’s first smartphone with such a display, reports GizmoChina. According to the report, the Star 3 will have a 5.5-inch 2,160 x 3,840 pixel resolution display, giving the display a pixel density of 808 PPI.
While the idea of a 4K display seems appealing to many users, others argued that, as the smartphone’s screen size is not as big compared to a TV’s one. Therefore, it may not make any huge differences between the 2K and 4K display. Will it be a waste of money to invest into upgrading a phone’s screen that is already good with older tech? However, supporters believed that it is always a good thing to have more innovations, as they bring customers more choice and brand new experience. Moreover, we would never really know how it feels unless we really try it 🙂
ZTE Star 3 and competitors in bringing 4K display to smartphones
Sharp recently revealed a 5.5”, 3840 x 2160 display panel. And there are also rumors that Samsung’s next Galaxy Note smartphone could have a slightly larger screen with the same display resolution. Tough competition, tough competition we can tell.
Whether ZTE is the first company to release a 4K phone or not depends on their production speed and other competitors. But the news about ZTE Star 3 itself is amazing enough to be looking for. Hopefully we can witness another new leap of the smartphone industry. We just love that there are more and more fabulous idea coming into a once-simple product.
Sony Xperia Z4 vs ASUS ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML): high-end phones battle!
Today we come up with the battle between Sony Xperia Z4 vs Asus ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML). To be honest, this is gonna be tough as they both look premium and powerful.
Sony Xperia Z4 vs ASUS ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML)
We can’t deny that ASUS ZenFone 2 looks completely high-end with its brushed metal appearance, but when you hold the device, it’s plastic. Of course plastic doesn’t mean it feels cheap! However the point is that it’s not in the premium league you would find in the Sony Xperia Z3 Plus+, HTC One M9, Galaxy S6 or LG G4. Other than that, ASUS ZenFone 2 with the curved back makes it easy to be held, though it’s obviously thicker than Sony Xperia Z3+.
In terms of Sony Xperia Z4 vs Asus Zenfone 2 battle, there will be many people vote for Xperia Z4 due to its design, but it is not 100% sure to win the specs department and absolutely the pricing aspect. Let’s take the first look at the screens. Both devices use the FHD LCD screen tech and are quite similar in the size: 5.2″ vs 5.5″ for Sony and ASUS device, respectively. Nonetheless, if looking closer, we’ll see that the LCD display on the Xperia Z3 Plus is a little higher in quality (424ppi to be specific) than ZenFone 2 (403ppi).
Secondly, both Sony Xperia Z4 vs Asus Zenfone 2 offer users large amounts of RAM, but in fact ZenFone 2 has already won this RAM game since it boasts 4GB RAM, more powerful than 3GB RAM built in Sony Xperia Z3 Plus.
Other than that, ASUS ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) is also better in terms of expandable battery. Their batteries cannot be removed. With 3,000mAh batt, ASUS ZenFone 2 is a bit stronger than Xperia Z3+ 2,930mAh one. However, in fact, Sony can really squeeze the most out of the batteries.
As for camera comparison between Sony Xperia Z4 vs Asus Zenfone 2, the main ZenFone 2’s snapper owns a 13MP sensor with autofocus and a dual-tone LED flash. It is sure that Zen will be good enough for phone users to take decent photos, but still cannot beat the Xperia Z3 Plus’s 20.7MP sensor. Z3 will bring you great experience in taking wonderful pictures.
Despite some differences, Sony and ASUS smartphone share some things in common such as Android 5.0 Lollipop, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM radios, and microUSB port for charging and transferring data. Besides, each phone sports a Quick Charge feature as well.
For a general view of the differences as well as similarities in the specs of Sony Xperia Z4 vs Asus Zenfone 2, let’s have a look at the following table:

Anyone likes a 6000mAh Battery, Wireless Fast Charging Technology and admittedly one of the best designs on the market, the Xiaomi Mi Note Design? Welcome the new Doogee S6000 smartphone.
Doogee is Chinese smartphone manufacturer which has gotten more and more attention n the last month with extremely affordable phones with often borrowed designs. So was the Doogee Hitman DG850 a nearly exact copy of the Xiaomi Mi4, including high end 5″ metal design and 50% of the price. Before we get into the ethics of those inspired designs, lets have a look at the newest Doogee S6000 phone.
The biggest selling point of the Doogee S6000 will be the Design, which definitely took some inspiration from the Xiaomi Mi Note and Note Pro, which is a big Plus. It has the same 2.5 D glass front with slighlty curved back, and a high end Zinc Titanium metal frame. Also you have a GLONASS Glass back cover and 2.5mm slim bezel’s which makes it really quite similiar to Xiaomi’s current flagship.
You get the same dual speakers as the Xiaomi Mi Note. Really impressive is that the Doogee S6000 only measures 9mm of thickness, which is not the slimmest, but outstanding for a 6000 mah Battery. As you have the Design of the Xiaomi Mi Note you also get the same outstanding Screen to body ratio, which should be around 75%. This beats the iPhone 6 easily.
Doogee S6000 Specs include as mentioned before a huge 6000mAh battery, which should give you at least 3-4 usage. To make the most of this device Doogee also added Mediatek’s newest PumpExpress Fast Charging Tech. With this you can charge your phone to 75% in just 30 minutes. If you are unsatisfied with your current battery on your smartphone, this surely sounds like a great deal.
Other Doogee S6000 specs reveal, that the DoogeeS6000 is in fact a midranger. You get a 5.5″ HD display, Quad-Core MT6735 plus 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of 16GB is expandable. You get a very decent f/2.0 8MP Main Camera and 5MP Front Shooter, along with Android 5.1 Also this device includes Wireless Charging, although we are not 100% sure on that one yet.
The Doogee S6000 Release Date will be somewhen in August this year. The Doogee S6000 is definitely one of the best looking phones out there with its High-End Xiaomi Mi Note Design. The Doogee S6000 price will be just 139.99 USD which translates to a Price in Philippines of just PHP 6,300. What do you think about the Doogee S6000 smartphone?
