Android users, beware! It seems like up to 40 budget Android devices have found to arrive with harmful malware installed. Read on for more information on the news today.
40 Budget Android Devices Ship With Banking Trojan Malware!
Recently, a Russian-based security software company – Dr Web – has made a significant discovery. According to them, up to 40 different budget handsets from China have arrived with trojan malware. In details, this malware is the harmful Android.Triada.231 Trojan. It is a very powerful Android banking trojan discovered in 2016. This malware can root devices and then infect the Zygote, a core Android operating system process.
Under the effect of the trojan, it is capable of executing a variety of attacks on the unsuspecting user. For now, the only option to get rid of it is to root your handsets and start installing a new operating system. So how did this situation happen? The malware discovery leads to a developer working with the Chinese brand Leagoo. The employee had proposed the smartphone manufacturer to include an extra application.
Moreover, they also include the instruction to add a third-party code to the system library in its release. Surprisingly, this request went through without any questions. On the other hand, the Leagoo brand isn’t the only one on the list. There are also other manufacturers such as Doogee, Zopo, Vertex, and Cherry. Moreover, we sport many mid-range smartphones from the smaller manufacturers as well. Earlier in 2016, there was also an outbreak of the similar certificate. Russia is now suspecting that the two situations are connected. Furthermore, the developer in this recent distribution is also responsible for the earlier campaign. Importantly, Dr Web also raised a big issue on the global security issue. “The malware is present not only in the devices sold in Russia but also globally,” a Dr. Web representative stated earlier today via email. “For instance, in Poland, Indonesia, China, the Checz Republic, Mexico, Kazakhstan, and Serbia.”
Who will be responsible for other malware campaigns?
For now, the investigation has led to a manufacturer in Shanghai, China. No further statement has been released yet on the problem. We are going to keep you update more on the situation once more information arrives. Stay tuned!

There are a large number of new-released smartphones which use the old operating system. Why do companies not adopt the latest Android OS? Figure it out in our article.
Why new phones coming with an outdated version of Android?
We recently saw three high-range smartphones launching in November: the Razer Phone, HTC U11+, and Oneplus 5T. These phones all have outstanding specs. However, excluding the HTC U11+, both OnePlus 5T and Razer Phone run on an old Android OS version. Android 8.0 Oreo was launched in August, and it has been three months since it was made available for all these big smartphone companies to adopt and install on their new phones. Why do companies not adopt the latest OS?
The main reason is the Android’s software licensing. Google only makes Android for the products they sell. On the other hand, they allow companies like Samsung and LG to build their operating system based on Android. However, it is expensive to build and test an operating system. Precisely, to make Android work on their hardware, device manufacturers must write Android device drives for their hardware. Therefore, some companies choose the old version of Android to save money.
Besides that, the time it would take to stop production and update the software before selling phones would directly affect the amount of money a company makes from selling phones. It is certain that nobody in Samsung or LG or anyone else wants you to use an old software on your device, but as they have to update the system themselves, it takes a lot of time. And for them, time is equal to money.
Would all phones be updated to the latest Android OS?
Android 8.0 Oreo is currently available on only 0.3% Android phones. For some medium or high-range smartphones, users can update the OS system in the future. However, there are still some low-budget Android phones that cannot be upgraded.

7 best Android smartphones 2017: from budget to flagship
Those are the best Android smartphones from flagship to budget. Each phone has its own strength depending on its price. Some have great cameras and strong performance, the others own huge battery and big screen. So, which handset can you afford?
Nokia is expected to release their Nokia 2 this month, and it is their cheapest Android smartphone to date. At first glance, it shows quite the performance considering the price! The Nokia 2 is right under the Nokia 3 in terms of both price and specs, and acts as the ‘entry point’ for the Nokia smartphones line. See with us below the 5 things we love about the Nokia 2.
1. Great battery life
As expected for a lower end device that the Nokia 2 is, the specs are quite humble. One example is the Snapdragon 212 processor. While it’s not a beast like the Snapdragon 385 we have been seeing in newer, high end releases, it’s perfect for the Nokia 2. Indeed, it is efficient, which helps with battery life. It sports a Li-Ion 4100 mAh battery, and while HMD Global has claimed that it delivers a 2 day battery life, this seems to depend on usage as some tests place the battery life at up to only 19 hours of talk time, but a solid up to 139 hours of music play, and a whooping up to 1340 hours in standby.
2. Good display
The display of the Nokia 2 also caters to its claims of battery life, as it sports a high contrast LTPS which according to HMD Global reduced the power consumption by 15%. This 5 inch HD display works well (depending on the viewing angle), and while it doesn’t have the brightest colors, does have natural looking ones. It’s also covered with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection as we could imagine users being less bothered with protecting their device at the lower end scale.
3. Good cameras
The Nokia 2 also comes with a 2 cameras: an 8MP main camera with LED flash, and a 5MP selfie camera. To be honest, these cameras are not groundbreaking cameras, however when looking at this price tag, the camera is pretty decent! Both cameras take photos with decent dynamic range, and decent detail. Also, while they are not amazing for photography, both cameras can take decent shots, and the front camera seems suitable for social media use – so what more could we ask for?
4. Great design and build quality
One of the greatest elements of the Nokia 2, is how HMD Global has managed to create a phone that is affordable, but doesn’t look cheap. Indeed the design is made with a removable polycarbonate back, with an aluminum frame which adds rigidity. It is also available in three colors: copper, white, and black. The white one even gives off a Star Wars Stormtrooper’s look! Also, the device is quite solid, keeping with the Nokia tradition and legend of “indestructible phones” (though we don’t recommend you try and break your Nokia phone to test this!)
5. The Price
Finally, let’s end with one of the most obvious features of the phone, and really what we think is the cherry on top of all of these specs: the price. Indeed, the design, massive battery, and overall specs of this phone come in at just $110, which is about Rs 7,000. HMD really want to emphasize that this new phone is for everyone. So much so, that they actually launched the phone in a metro station!
6. Great performance and design for a really really cheap phone!
On paper, the Nokia 2 is a modest device, with a gigabyte of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable with a microSD card slot available), a Snapdragon 212 processor and 4G VoLTE support. However, looking past the specs on paper, this device looks like quite a competent budget smartphone, carrying over the positives of past Nokia phones and adding a killer price tag. We’ll see what reviews say after the phone is finally released, but we are optimistic about it. What about you? Tell us in the comments below!

The world of mobile phones is basically divided into two main parts: Android users and iOS users. The iOS users can be pretty loyal fans to their device manufacturer. However, we have 5 reasons why an Android smartphone would be a smarter choice than that of an iOS.
1. Android smartphone over iPhone: A wider variety of choices
Apple sure offers a wide range of device with variations in terms of size, specs and also software updates. However, if at this moment, you suddenly feel like having a small, compact with classic look, there is no way you can purchase for a new iPhone SE. With Android smartphones, things are far easier. You can choose many devices from different manufacturers.
In case you need a large screen phone with a style, Samsung can give you a whole package in their Note series; while you have to buy a separate Apple Pencil. One more thing is that whenever the battery of your Android smartphone goes dead, you can easily replace it with a new one. For iPhone, there is no way you can open the back of the device to replace the battery without screw drivers and even x-acto knife; not even mention your official guarantee will be gone in this case.
2. Android smartphone over iPhone: Micro SD Card Support
Having an extra gigabyte of photos that you do not want to upload to the Cloud or online Drive? You can totally store them in the Micro SD Card, which is widely supported by almost every Android smartphones. Feel like adding up another 128 GB for offline video recording, photos and editing? Piece of cake for Android smartphones. However, things will not be that easy if you are using an iOS. Micro SD Card has never been supported on iPhone, which makes extending internal storage for an iPhone is near to impossible. If you need more storage, there are only two options: you can either purchase another device with larger internal storage or buy your online storage service.
3. Android smartphone over iPhone: Download Movies and Music from Anywhere
Remember the painful process of transferring your music, data and movies into your iPhone? iTunes sure offers great look, but that’s all about it. It will not help you converting all types of files to be readable on your iPhone; all have to be processed by another application and the quality of the files sure gets decreased. All of these can be solved with just copy and paste in Android smartphones. And how about choosing any of your favorite song to keep your ringtone in tune? Too simple for Android smartphone; while iPhone will you require you to cut the song to 30 seconds and convert to their supported extension.
4. Android smartphone over iPhone: 3.5 mm headphone jacks
Say goodbye to all of your beautiful, high-tech and audiophile headsets with iPhone 7; the 3.5 mm headphone jacks has been eliminated on iPhone 7 onward. Though at this moment, the package of iPhone 7 still includes a transferring jack, just to keep the market gradually familiar with the lightning jack, people still think that this is Apple’s obvious moment in developing a brand new generation for Bluetooth device. Luckily, all of your headsets are safe with the Android devices since this is still well supported, without purchasing another set of Airpods with the price of 159 USD.
5. Android smartphone over iPhone: Customization and widgets
Looking at different iPhone screen and what do you see? Home screen, arrangement and setting are the same. If you find this irritatingly boring, you sure can do a lot more for your device in Android. Not only does Android offers a wide range of launchers and appearance settings but it also supports widgets, which you can easily download from Google Play. Themes and colors are all available to customize without the needs of jailbreaking like iPhone.
5 reasons why Android smartphone is still a better choice
Android smartphones offer more freedom and customization for users. Even a regular user can interfere and alter the settings of the phone pretty easily. Android is currently the operation system used by most mobile device users and developers; hence, the applications are more various and convenient to download. You sure can have better experience in using the device with Android than iOS.
The release of iPhone X celebrates the 10th anniversary of iPhone, and is undoubtedly a beautiful and powerful device. However, it is famous of iPhone to cost a lot (up to $999). That’s why there are many other worthy iPhone X rivals with more affordable prices you can consider
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes to our mind firstly, when talking about iPhone X rivals. For a start, it was released before the iPhone X, and got the chance to make its debut one step earlier. Granted, users still have to pay a staggering amount to dish out for one unit, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 also out-does the iPhone X on specs. It has a larger screen (6.3 inches vs. 5.8 inches), a microSD slot (which is always absent from an iPhone), and a superior front camera (8MP vs 7MP). It also comes with a stylus, and for the fashionable, has more color options.
The full Samsung Galaxy Note 8 specs make sure to impress even the pickiest user. This Samsung flagship sports a 6GB RAM instead of the 3GB RAM on iPhone X, together with powerful Exynos 8895 chipset. The phone is packed with 12MP camera on the back, and a decent 8MP on the front. Galaxy Note 8 is powered by a 3,300 mAH battery that supports fast-charge for your convenience. Display has always been one of the greats selling points for Samsung mobile. And this Note 8 offers a 6.3 inch Super AMOLED screen with Always-on mode for maximum enjoyment. Galaxy Note 8 price costs you a considerable 950$, but still 50$ cheaper than its rival.
2. OnePlus 5: a cheap and high-end device
The OnePlus 5 has a solid design which has evolved since the first member of the OnePlus line. While it has a slightly smaller screen (5.5 inches vs 5.8 inches) and lower resolution (401 ppi density vs. 458 ppi density), it beats the iPhone X in storage, with the possibility of getting either a 6GB or even 8GB RAM model. The OnePlus 5 also easily beats the iPhone X in price, starting at only $479. The only drawback here is the lack of waterproofing. However, for those not intending on taking their phones for a swim, it seems worth the price difference. Other OnePlus 5 specs include a dual 16MP on the rear, another 16MP for selfie, and a 3300 mAH battery.
3. Samsung Galaxy S8: one of the best handsets, one price bracket down.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the best handsets available in its price range, at $725. This still puts it in the higher price range of phones, without going as far as the iPhone X’s $999 price tag. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has the exact same screen size (5.8 inches), but with a slightly higher screen to body ratio and resolution). It also has more ram, with 4GB (instead of 3GB); although it only comes with 64GB internal memory, it can be expanded with a microSD slot (up to 256GB), and unlike the iPhone X you can choose a dual sim model. Another point to keep in mind is that the S8 comes with Gear VR.
4. Apple iPhone 7: one year older, still a solid contender.
The Apple iPhone 7 may not have that extra punch the iPhone X provides, but it’s still a solid older sibling to the Apple iPhone range. The iPhone 7’s processor speed is twice as fast as the iPhone 6’s, and its graphics speed is three times as fast as the iPhone 6’s. All the specs are slightly lower than the iPhone X’s, with 2GB ram instead of 3GB, and a 4.7 inch screen instead of a 5.8, however its cameras are both on similar levels (12MP primary camera and 7MP selfie camera). All of this of course means the iPhone 7 also comes in at a much lower price, almost half of the iPhone X at $549.
5. Apple iPhone SE: Staying in the Apple Ecosystem without breaking the bank
The Apple iPhone SE is still an amazing device, even after a year on the market. It goes back to the roots of the iPhone range with a manageable size departing from the phablet trend — meaning you can use it with one hand. It’s also available with up to 128GB storage space. While this phone is far from the specs of the iPhone X, it stays in the Apple ecosystem, an important aspect for users used to it. It also balances power, storage, an excellent set of cameras, and affordability: being the cheapest member of the iPhone family at $349, about a third of the price of the iPhone X.

For those tempted by the iPhone X, these strong alternatives might be a better match for your needs.
