On October 8, Microsoft’s vice president, Joe Belfiore posted on his Twitter to unveil the status of the Windows Phone. In the series of tweets, the VP of the company revealed that the software giant is no no longer developing new features or hardware for Windows 10 Mobile. That means we may not see a Surface-branded phone or more Windows 10 Mobile-powered hardware from now on. However, the corporation is still going to support the current users with bug fixes and security updates.

Belfiore explained the decision in the following tweets. He said that developers never really backed the platform and Microsoft could not find partners to work with. This led to the lack of applications and games on the platform’s store. Moreover, the existent apps on the store are hardly updated. All the applications seem to outdated, unlike the versions for iOS or Android. As a matter of fact, there are not so many users having interest in the platform.

The focus of Microsoft at this moment is on developing applications for iOS and Android, making these two platform work better with the company’s software. The software giant is currently making the way for its own Edge browser to iOS and Android.  The browser is in the beta stage for the time being.
