The name HMD has been on the radar frequently, as the one in charge of the anticipated comeback of Nokia next year. So what, or who, is HMD Global? Let’s find out now!

Who is HMD Global, the one in charge of Nokia comeback?
Nokia has confirmed their comeback for next year, and the company in charge of taking the brand back to glory will be HMD. So who or what is HMD? In short, HMD is like a second Nokia company! More specifically, even though this is an external company, HMD Global has 16 out of 17 executives is originally from Nokia! HMD will work closely with Nokia, Google, and FIH (subsidiary of Foxconn, for manufacturing) to produce upcoming Nokia smartphones, and all will run Android, as stated by HMD.
It has been reported that Nokia is working on four different devices, and the most talked about is the D1C, which is supposed to be introduced in MWC 2017. Initial AnTuTu benchmark result showed that the device will have Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, Full HD screen and 13MP/8MP cameras (rear and front). HMD has stated that the company will keep what makes Nokia geat: the beautiful design, user-friendliness, durability and quality. It is interesting to see HMD incorporate these aspects in a modern-day smartphone.

On the competitive edges for this Nokia comeback, there are still many in favor of Nokia now. Firstly, the brand value. Everyone and their mothers know of Nokia, that is a fact. Even though the brand has stalled on making phones for a while, the brand value is still extremely high. Secondly, the distribution network of HMD is very big, with offices around the world, and it is working with Nokia, which also has a big network itself. Last but not least, the fans of the Nokia brand will support this comeback with all their might, as they are big in numbers, and have been anticipating this comeback for a long time. Let’s see if HMD can make the most of this!

New Nokia Android phone will be collaborated with Google!
People are getting very excited for the Nokia comeback next year, especially when it was confirmed. Recently, it has been reported that for the new Nokia Android phone will be a close collaboration between Nokia and Google!

New Nokia Android phone will be collaborated with Google!
It is no secret now that Nokia will return to the smartphone market. The Finnish company has confirmed its comeback in MWC next year. HMD has been licensed by Nokia to be in charge of the giant’s phone brand. HMD seems very fitting to do this task, having a global presence with 40 offices all over the world. However, HMD will not do this task of bringing glory back to Nokia alone, as it has just been revealed that the company will work closely with Google on the release of this new Nokia Android phone.
HMD Global CEO Arto Nummela has told Reuters that there will be extensive collaboration with Google at least for the first few Nokia smartphones. Not much has been revealed about the involvement, however, we can speculate what advice Google would give to a new Android player, especially one that has been in the market for too long. Nummela has stated that HMD will not rely on goodwill and nostalgia to make customers buy the phone, but what Nokia has always done best: best battery life, extreme durability and user friendliness.

Nummela has talked with Bloomberg, and reinstated that the Nokia brand is known for its “simplicity, ease of use, reliability and quality”. HMD will make innovations where possible, while retaining what were the best features of Nokia phones. We can expect the new Nokia Android phone to have something close to stock or near-stock Android, like what Moto has done. There would be no software junks (as it should be). This would be contrary to the BlackBerry Priv, as the phone has tried to do “too much” and failed, even though it is a very good phone.
New Nokia Android phone: Anticipation building everyday
One of the features people would like to see in the new Nokia Android phone is the camera quality on those Lumia devices. As much as Nokia and Microsoft has completed their deal, this is a feature that HMD will likely incorporate. HMD will only do the designing and marketing, while the production will be left to Foxconn. With the direction to stay true to the Nokia image as much as possible, it is very exciting to see what HMD can do the the brand Nokia. Are you excited for the new Nokia phone?
