Smart phone camera only gets better over the years

Cameras on smart phones are more and more advanced, to the level that it could rival the best of those professional cameras. The resolution of a smart phone camera is always higher and higher as each year passes. Nokia 1020, for example, has the highest resolution for its camera – 41MP. The bar keeps getting raised for other smart phones as well. A few years ago, 13MP is some amazing thing, but right now 16MP could be considered a normal specs for smart phone camera.

Not only that, many smart phones nowadays offer the option of 4k video recording, something even a professional camera has difficulties shooting. This also means that a range of professional DSLR cameras will not seem to be that much more amazing than the cameras built on high end smart phones.

4k video on a smart phone, for example taken by Sony Xperia Z3+ camera, can almost be as good as a DSLR

If we only look at video recording, a lot of smart phones are doing the job very well. The highest end one can even rival cheaper professional cameras. However, it is hard for smart phone camera to completely overpower professional ones, since the larger the sensor is, the better the image it produces. Professional cameras can be bigger, yes, but nobody would want a huge smart phone over them.

However, the situation is changing. Samsung announced a super thin smart phone camera module lately, and it means an even brighter future for smart phone camera. A super thin module means a smart phone does not have to be bigger to have higher quality cameras. It seems that the day when we choose a smart phone over a DSLR camera is very, very near. Who knows Samsung Galaxy Note 5 camera will be the first one to make you so?

Design

If we take a look at the two phones, we can see the clear difference that Oppo R1K has curved corners while Lumia 830 does not. The front and back of Oppo R1K has resistant glass, protecting the phone from scratch. Though both have metal frame bordering the body, Lumia 830 is more “square” with its design. Moreover, the back of Lumia 830 does not have another glass cover like Oppo R1K.

Display

The two device sport a 5 inch display with the resolution of HD 720p, IPS panel and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Actual use proves that both phones give smooth images and sharp view. However, Lumia 830 produces warmer color and better view under sunlight.

Hardware

For power, Oppo R1K is a tad faster with its quad core 1.3GHz processor. Both are equipped with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. However, the Oppo R1K does not support microSD, while Lumia 830 does.

R1K has a 2410mAh battery and Lumia 830 has a 2200mAh. The small difference does not give off anything, but Windows Phone is known for its power and smooth operation.

Camera

Now it is the most amusing part. Oppo R1K has a main 13MP camera with the resolution of  4128 x 3096 pixels and a 5MP front one. The picture quality on this phone is quite high. It can also please Selfie lovers with a lot of enhance effects on the front camera.

The Pureview 10MP camera on Lumia 830 is one amazing thing either. When taking photos, the phone lets you take one photo with flash and one without. Then it offers the slider that lets you change the flash effect on your final product. However, the 1MP front camera seems to be a disappointment if you are crazy about selfie.dsc_9399copy

That’s all about Oppo R1K and Lumia Nokia 830. What do you think about these two?

Nokia will target “Professional cameras” next?

The teaser images introduce Hyperspectral imaging and Array cameras. Nokia probably is going to launch something related to professional cameras, targeting both professional photographer and video making companies.

unispectral

Hyperspectral imaging is a technology used in cameras that allows your device to analyse the chemical composition of the things captured. Array cameras offer you the ability to alter image depth, after-cature focus, and produce high quality 3D images and videos. This seems to match well with Nokia’s seemingly plan on the professional camera field.

Nokia’s return to the smartphone battle has already been set to come. Although most of this Finnish technology company was sold to Microsoft in a multi-million dollar deal which completed last year, there are still parts belong to the long-standing brand. In the Nokia’s return, the Giant will be focusing on designing and licensing only.

Nokia’s return: Watch out, competitors! The Giant is coming back

They are thinking of partnering with some different third parties to provide Nokia’s design and let those companies manufacture and launch final products, said CEO Rajeev Suri to German Publication, the “Manager Magazin”, when announcing Nokia’s return. Under an agreement with Microsoft, Nokia is not allowed to use its brand on phones until Q4 of 2016. So if everything goes right, the world-famous Nokia will come back to the smartphone market in 2016. “We will look for suitable partners,” says Suri. “Microsoft makes mobile phones. We would simply design them and then make the brand name available to license.”

Nokia Power Ranger Specs

After the smartphone section being acquired by Microsoft, Nokia’s fans thought they would never see a Nokia smartphone again. However, on April 15th, Nokia once again stepped into smartphone industry by acquiring the Alcatel- Lucent. On the main site, Nokia emphasizes: “The combined company will be uniquely positioned to create the foundation of seamless connectivity for people and things wherever they are. “. The newest concept for the next Nokia smartphone, which is designed by Ashraf Amer, is called Nokia Power Ranger. This utopian concept must cost him a lot of creativity. Coming along with beautiful appearance, Nokia Power Ranger Specs are what is called “futuristic”.

Nokia Power Ranger is a dual-boot smartphone running on both Windows Mobile and Android OS. This fits right into recent news about the Nokia C1 Android Phone, that will also come with Android OS.  A Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz powers the newest Nokia phone while an Adreno 420 GPU takes care of graphic. Smartphone makers now have trends to produce borderless phones. So the designer is up-to-date when giving the phone a super thin bezel.  A 5.1” 2K (2560×1440 pixels) display is located in front of the device accounting for more than 90% of the front.

Nokia-Power-Ranger

With 4GB RAM, we think Nokia Power Ranger can handle multi-tasking very well. Furthermore, this Nokia phone is definitely futuristic when having a shocking on-board storage capacity of 512GB ROM. If so, memory card slot is not a need anymore. If you think 20MP camera is good enough, well, think again. This Nokia Power Ranger offers you a 24.2MP Pureview camera with dual LED flash and 4K video recording ability. In contrast to the enormous sensor of the rear camera, the front-facing camera is just of 5MP.

Nokia Power Ranger Release Date in India?

How do feel about this Nokia Power Ranger ? Excited or not? Nokia will have their Comeback with Android smartphones like the Nokia C1 Android in 2016. Nokia’s contract with Microsoft is running out in the January 2016, so we will see the newest Nokia phones in 2016 again. We really hope that the Nokia Power Ranger phablet will also be released in 2016 with other new Nokia Smartphones like the Nokia C1 or Nokia Swan.
