Compared to the Snapdragon 835 laptops, the new chip promises a 30% boost in performance and 20% better battery life. The upcoming devices should have “multi-day” battery life since the chip will support 1.2 gigabits per second LTE connectivity speeds and up to 25 hours of continuous usage. Besides, the X20 LTE modem pushes the downlink speeds up to 1.2 Gbps. Nevertheless, the new chip has the same Kryo 385 cores as the Snapdragon 845, an Adreno 630 GPU, 10nm manufacturing process; and the company’s so-called AI Engine for on-device machine learning.

Unfortunately, it is well noted that the Snapdragon 850 will not be used in smartphones, but rather in ARM devices. According to Qualcomm, Windows devices powered by the chip will be available later this year.
