Twitter Warns 330 Million Users Of A Password Vulnerability

If anyone logged on to Twitter account last night, they must have seen a “Keeping Your Account Secure” notice. To be honest, we don’t think that everyone went ahead and read the whole thing. However, what the popup window informs users about is quite scary. It basically indicates that the passwords of all 330 million Twitter users might be in danger in text form. This happened due to an internal bug that the company declares to have fixed now.

Furthermore, Twitter also claims that its investigation showed that there was no evidence that the unmasked passwords had violated. However, it still advised all users to change their passwords out of caution. According to the company rep, the bug occurred because of an issue in the hashing process of passwords storing. The hashing process replaces the actual password with a random set of numbers and letters that are kept in the Twitter system.

And from that, it can validate a user’s account information without showing their password. While the company has explained what happened and what the issue was, it hasn’t revealed how many users’ passwords may have possibly been compromised. We don’t even know the bug exposed the passwords for how long and how much time the company took to fix it. However, making the entire userbase to change their passwords indicates to a significant user number.

Could this become another data controversy?

After the private data controversy of Facebook happened last month, we advise all users to change their passwords irrespective of Twitter’s claims that no compromise occurred.

Last month, there was a report about one new LG handset of the ThinQ series to arrive in this quarter. Today, AT&T has finally revealed more information through their LG V35 ThinQ render images. Notably, this handset is going to be a minor update of the LG V30S ThinQ. As a result, we can expect the LG V35 ThinQ to sport some changes in compared to the LG V30. Furthermore, Android Headlines also suggests that this smartphone comes with the name “AT&T’s LG phone”.

Back in April, we caught the news about one new budget-friendly Xiaomi handset which can hit the market this May. Today, Xiaomi has officially released all of the details on the Xiaomi Redmi S2. Notably, the Chinese brand took to Weibo to confirm the launch of the Redmi S2. Based on the image, it seems like the Xiaomi handset sports a pink colour options and dual rear camera setup! Additionally, the Redmi S series is going to arrive with a cheaper price than the usual Redmi phone!

Regarding the display, Xiaomi Redmi S2 specs include a tall 5.99-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Furthermore, the Redmi S2 display has the resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels, and 18:9 ratio aspect. Under the hood, this Xiaomi phone is going to run on the Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset with Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53. Besides, there is also Adreno 506 GPU. As for the storage, Xiaomi Redmi S2 offers different variants: 64 GB, 4 GB RAM or 32 GB, 3 GB RAM or 16 GB, 2 GB RAM.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi handset comes with a microSD card which can expand up to 256GB. In terms of the operating system, the Xiaomi handset comes running on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with MIUI 9.5 on top. How about the photography system? Xiaomi Redmi S2 camera includes a dual 12 MP (f/2.2, 1.4 μm) + 5 MP (f/2.0, 1.12 μm) rear snapper with phase detection autofocus, LED flash. On the front, there is another 16 MP selfie lens. On the other hand, the Redmi S2 is available in different colours: Black, Gold, Blue, Red, Silver and Pink. Lastly, this Xiaomi phone rocks a non-removable Li-Po 3080mAh battery.
