As per tradition, Samsung is going to upgrade the phones in the J and A series each year. This year is no different, as we have reports about the 2017 versions of many phones already. Recently, the Galaxy J7 2017 has secured an important certificate.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 gets WiFi certified!

J7 is the strongest phone of the J series family. Usually, J7 has the power that can rival that of the A series, while having reasonable price. The Galaxy J7 2017 will not be an exception to this. Previously, the phone has already received Bluetooth certification, and it also cleared the FCC. Now, the phone has received another important certification towards being launched: WiFi certificate. The WiFi Alliance (WFA) recently has granted the certificate to the Galaxy J7 2017.

In addition to receiving the important WiFi certificate from the WFA, we also know some interesting information about the Galaxy J7 2017 specs. For instance, the phone will be able to connect to WiFi on two bands, either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. This is not really something special, as many phones already can do it, but it’s worth noting. However, the real deal here is that the phone will come out of the box with Android Nougat, as noted in the certificate. This is great news, as you can now own a reasonably priced device with good specs and the latest Android version!

From what we have gathered so far, Galaxy J7 2017 specs will be a direct upgrade from its predecessor. It will be powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, along with 2GB of RAM, and Adreno 506 GPU. There will be a combo of 13MP/5MP rear and front camera, and the battery is reported to be 3,000mAh. Reports also suggest that the J7 2017 will have a 5.5″ 1080p Super AMOLED screen. Xiaomi Mi 6 Launch Date Revealed

The Chinese manufacturer seems to be very busy this year. Just recently, Xiaomi has introduced its first in-house processor, the Pinecone Surge S1, as well as a new midrange phone, the Mi 5c and an entry-level device, the Redmi 4X. Now, it seems that the company is going to launch a new high-end phone, called Xiaomi Mi 6. According to rumors, the new Mi 6 will be officially released on April 16 in China.

As for specs, this upcoming smartphone is going to sport a 5.2-inch LCD display with a 2.5D glass on the top. As mentioned above, the device is expected to be the first Chinese phone which will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC. Apparently, Xiaomi has planned to offer three variants of the Xiaomi Mi 6: two with a metal body and 4 GB of RAM together with 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage and a ceramic body variant that will come with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage.

In terms of optics, you will be surprised! The Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to be equipped with a primary shooter which is to be similar to the camera of the new Sony Xperia XZ Premium. If this is true, the Mi 6 could have a Sony Exmor RS lens that comes with 18 megapixels and is able to record videos in 960 frames per second!

The basic version of Xiaom’s Mi 6 with 4 GB of RAM + 32 GB of ROM will cost around CNY 1999 ($290), while the ceramic body variant with 6GB of RAM + 128GB is available for CNY 2500 ($365).

Pixel 2 is coming this year, and will stay premium!

Rick Osterloh formerly worked for Motorola, and is now working for Google. He has been here for about a year, and he is head of the hardware department now. Recently, Rick has shared some information regarding the future of the Pixel devices, as well as some hints as to when the Pixel 2 could drop. After all, the Pixel and Pixel XL are his treasured children, so what he has to say about its future will most likely end up being true!

First of all, he shared that with the current Pixel, there are not enough units to satisfy the demands of customers. He did not specify which, but he said that some necessary parts for making Pixel are lacking, hence the shortage in number. Of course, it’s hard to independently confirm whether the lack of available Pixel devices is due to the lack of particular parts. Similar to that, he also did not specify an exact date for Pixel 2, but we can speculate from what he gave.

Nick said that there is a trend of annual release in the industry, and Google will not stray from that trend. He then also continued to say that we can count on a successor this year, even without a specific date for now. So, we can confidently say that Pixel smartphone is not a one-off experiment from Google, and there will be Pixel 2 this year. He also revealed that the phone will stay premium, as Google will leave the cheaper price segment to other manufacturers.

The Nokia 3310 Supremo was recently unveiled and launched at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona (Spain) with a price of $60, but this time there is a premium variant which will cost you $1700. The Nokia 3310 specs actually offer a 2.4-inch screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The phone comes with a 16MB for the internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD. The Nokia 3310 cameras will give you a 2 MP, LED flash.

The Nintendo Switch is already on sale, but its hype predates even that: the first batch of pre-orders are sold out. If you happen to get your hands on the new Nintendo device, no doubt that you will want to try it out right away. Also, like with any portable devices, you would want to make a Switch decoration by putting on some sort of skin on the device, for aesthetics purpose (make it look better/cooler) or just for protection. However, you should not do that for your new Switch console just yet!

Dbrand, a famous branding for making skins for different devices, has recently made an announcement on Reddit. The company said that customers should not buy any vinyl skin/wrap for their shiny new Switch devices. Why preventing them from making any Switch decoration? According to the company, after extensive testing, it is found that the coating of the JoyCon gamepads will peel off if you apply any skin/wrap and then take it off!

Not only the JoyCon, but the main frame of the console is also affected, especially at the area of the Nintendo icon. After applying and then taking off the tested wrapping, the Nintendo logo faded noticeably. The other areas is not much better either, as visible peels appear as well. This happened on both the prototype and the official device dbrand has for testing. So, for the time being, you should not make any Switch decoration via any skins or wrappings!

Apple is still pretty much on top in the smartphone market. However, the company is struggling for shares in the biggest market in the world, China. Recently, it has decided to relaunch the 32GB iPhone 6 Gold there.

It is quite clear that Apple still looks forward to advancing in China, the biggest market in the world. Apple shares is struggling in China due to fierce competitions, especially from big local brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei. However, Apple is still determined to stay on the playing field. One of the strategy Apple had used  is to released upgraded version of old iPhone models, and it seems this time they are going to do it again with the iPhone 6!

There will only be one model to be relaunched this time, the iPhone 6 Gold version. However, it will come with the upgraded 32GB of ROM, which were not included between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s models. The 32GB version only came back with iPhone 7. Previously, when the iPhone 6 was launched, there were only options of 16, 64 or 128GB of internal storage. Many people have criticized the 16GB version, since the storage is very small, and we know that iPhone storage can’t be extended. It seems that with this 32GB iPhone 6, it hits just the right spot for customers.

This may looks like a weird move, but Apple actually has done it before. Apple relaunched a 8GB iPhone 4 in India before, in an effort to build more market shares over there. The same iPhone 4 model was also later released to other markets as well. It is more than likely that this move with the 32GB iPhone 6 Gold in China will also serve the same purpose. According to 9to5Mac, Apple won’t sell the device in stores, but through carrier partners like Taiwan Mobile. It has actually been available already, but people have not seemed to notice.

Dark Souls is definitely among the best games, and players were very excited when it received a PC port. However, it was clear that when the port came, it was clearly a rushed one. There was a mod, DSfix, by famous modder Durante, which made it better by changing the rendering resolution and mod textures. Still, the keyboard and mouse control made the game almost unplayable on a PC keyboard. A lot of PC gamers were really turned off by the port of what is considered one of the greatest games of all time (we have covered some PC port problems here).

Now, there is another mod to help alleviate the problems, the DarkSoulsMouseFix. Althogh it has just entered the 1.0 beta status, it solved all those problems for the Dark Souls PC port. Some of its features are enabling true raw mouse input with no controller emulation, removing traditional smoothing or acceleration, changing individual horizontal and vertical sensitivities for camera and aiming. You can also bound actions to a hotkey, and enable and disable the cursor when needed. Those configurations sounds great!

Players at the Reddit community who have tried this mod all gave very positive response to it, and are very happy with the results. It is still far from perfect, as there are quite a few bugs found, but for those who are not comfortable playing with a controller on PC, this can be your quick fix for the problem. Remember, this mod is still only in beta phase, which means it will only get better. This mod surely made the Dark Souls port a true PC game.

According to The Investor cites industry source, it is said that the pre-orders will open on April 10, only two weeks after the alleged announcement date (March 29) and eleven days before the gossiped release date (April 21). Starting with Samsung Galaxy Plus, the handest will come with a huge curved screen of 6.2-inch super AMOLED with a resolution of 1440 x2560 pixels ad will be powered by an MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset packed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded by microSD card. The Galaxy S8 Plus cameras will sport a Dual 12MP and an 8MP selfie shooter at the front. Besides, an iris and fingerprint scanners are integrated. Samsung unveiled its upcoming S8 at the MWC 2017 on February 27 and will feature a smaller 2K super AMOLED display with 5.8-inch. Like its bigger version, you will find a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 with 4GB RAM and 64 to 128GB of ROM, under the hood. The S8 will keep S8 will be keeping the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The Galaxy S8 cameras will come with a 12 MP, f/1.7, 26mm, phase detection autofocusses, OIS, LED flash, while the secondary camera is said to be an 8MP. The phone will have a battery power of 3000mAh battery non-removable and will also run on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Finally, the Nintendo Switch has been released, much to the anticipation of players. As we have said before, the Switch is special in that, it can be used as one whole block, or players can separate the handles on the side, and enjoy a gaming experience similar to that of the Wii. However, if you just want to enjoy gaming in the good old way, Nintendo also got you covered. There is an optional Nintendo Switch Pro controller, allowing you to play the game the old-fashioned way. Furthermore, that is not the only good side that this controller has!

That’s right, the Switch Pro controller can become your next favorite PC controller! That is because this controller uses bluetooth connection, it will be easily recognizable as an input device when you pair it with a PC running Windows. Basically, it is as easy as pairing any other bluetooth devices!

So, if you buy a Nintendo Switch, consider purchasing the Pro controller as well, as it will be beneficial if you happen to have a PC.
