Recently, the system requirements for Skyrim Special Edition have been released. For people who thought that this edition will require more or less the same as last time, those requirements are way higher than the original game. However, considering that the original Skyrim has been released five years ago, which is a long time in gaming industry, those changes are to be expected. The minimum requirements for the first release were 2.0GHz dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM, and a DX9.0c-compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM. Nowadays, many smartphones are even stronger than that!

Here are the new requirements from Skyrim Special Edition. You will need at least Intel i5-750/AMD Phenom II X4-945, 8GB RAM, and Nvidia GTX 470 1GB/AMD HD 7870 2GB. It is recommended to have Intel i5-2400/AMD FX 8320, 8GB RAM, and Nvidia GTX 780 3GB/AMD R9 290 4GB. Your computer should run Windows 7/8.1/10 64-bit, and has 12GB free HDD space.

In addition, Bethesda, the game’s developer, has announced that the Special Edition will be free to anyone who have bought “all the Skyrim stuff” already released. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to require 130GB for full package!

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is one of the most anticipated game for the 2016 holiday. The official release date is November 4. This time, there will be a Legacy edition coming along. It will include Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered bundle, which is the collection of the Modern Warfare series of the title. However, those who have pre-ordered, or plan to purchase this edition, get ready to wipe your storage, for what seems to be an enormous installation package.

Recently, a French retailer apparently sent out empty game boxes to those who pre-ordered the game. Charlie Intel, one of those people, tweeted  picture of the game box, and on the back side, it said that the PS4 version of the game would require 130GB at the very least! Early access to the Modern Warfare Remastered Campaign has already started, which is already 40GB. So, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare could take 70 to 90 GB alone. However, please note that he exact size breakdown is not yet confirmed.

That space requirement comes as a surprise. The previous two titles, Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare, only require 55GB each. This requirement is really a strange occurrence, even when games nowadays are taking more space. However, there could be an explanation for this. It has already been confirmed that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and the Modern Warfare Remastered series will be compatible with the upcoming PS4 Pro. The extra storage could be to utilize the new console’s processing power.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to be released some time early next year, that much has been known to the gaming community. However, a complimentary book also due to release early next year might have given away the Mass Effect: Andromeda release date!

Mass Effect: Andromeda release date accidentally leaked?

Recently, a Dark Horse Comic’ Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda book has appeared as a listing on Amazon. The release date is reported to be March 21, 2017. The interesting detail is, in the pre-order listing, it said that Dark Horse would release the book at the same time with the game. March 21, 2017 may very well be the official Mass Effect: Andromeda release date! Bioware, the game’s developer, has not given any comments regarding this leak.

That is on the Amazon US page. On the Amazon UK, the release date is set a few days later, March 23, 2017. This indicates that the game would come to Europe a little bit later. That would not be an unusual move. This also fits with what EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen has hinted before. He has commented that the Mass Effect: Andromeda release date would be during the publisher’s fourth fiscal quarter, between January and March 2017. Everything seems to fit nicely together!

Dark Horse and Bioware has quite a long history together. Dark Horse has already drawn and published Mass Effect interactive comics or new players to catch up on the game. At the recent New York Comic Con, they have also announced the new Mass Effect and Dragon titles – including the art book in question. 1. Mafia III

Let’s come to the latest of the bunch. Mafia III is among the most anticipated games of 2016 holiday. It is expected to sell well, and it did. However, the desktop version of 2K Games’ crime adventure is littered with a lot of bugs and glitches, and some gamers even said that it’s unplayable. Just one look at the reviews on Steam, and you will see tons of negative ones, because of these errors (although to be fair, some of those are kind of extreme).

The most complained issue is the locked FPS. Somehow, to make performance “consistent across all platforms”, 2K decided to lock the frame rate on PC to 30 frame per second (fps). That means even if you have a powerful PC, you will still get the maximum level of visual the consoles produce. At least, 2K later released a patch to remove this restriction. Yes, not only for this game, PC gamers are so used to patches to fix PC port problem!

2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Although this game did not have as much issues like the others on this list, the PC port problem still haunts this game. Crashes, minor glitches, fps drops during certain scenes are a few to name. There were also problems with mouse sensitivity and acceleration, to the extent that some players had to use a gamepad. Playing a shooter game with a gamepad on PC? Doesn’t sound fun, really. Fortunately, various fixes and patches have been carried out. The game ok now, for the most part.

3. No Man’s Sky

Back in the summer, when No Man’s Sky first hit the PC market, it became viral for the wrong reasons. Tons of glitches and bugs were spotted, such as fps dropping even with high-end graphics cards, a lot of game crashes, save file corruption etc. There were also some funny events happening to you too, such as getting stuck in a world, or in a damaged space ship you cannot repair (on second thought, those are not really funny). Fortunately, many problems were fixed at the start of September, one month after release date.

4. Batman: Arkham Knight

It rarely happens that after release, a publisher has to suspend sale of a game to fix it. However, that happened with Batman: Arkham Knight. The Dark Knight seems to have many problems, from low fps, disappearing textures, save corruptions, and crashes. Apparently, only devices with 12GB of RAM runs normally (yeah, like everyone has that). The game was also capped at 30fps, but it was bad enough. It was truly the Batman we deserved, but not the one we need then (with all those bugs).

5. Watchdogs

This case happened way back in 2014. The game created a lot of hype, only then to be crushed by the bugs it had in the PC version. Some of the standard issues occurred: low fps, bad sounds, crashes – especially during CGI clips. There were also mouse problems, which made it hard to control in-game. Hopefully, he lesson has been learnt, as Watchdogs 2 will be out in November this year.

PC port problem will not go anywhere soon

Above are 5 glaring examples of PC port problem for games. They have a lot in common (low fps, mouse problems, crashes), but those bugs keeps happening. Granted that they all got fixed in the end, it is still a big annoyance for gamers. Hopefully, there will not be as many problems with future PC port.
