The commercial success of a smartphone doesn’t seem to depend only on its specs. During the past quarter of 2016, Samsung vs Apple are the only OEMs to gain profit, though none of their products pack a 6GB RAM or deca-core processor. Let’s check the whole statistics!

Samsung vs Apple: How much profit they got last quarter?

Canaccord Genuity, a market researching brand, has just published the results of the business status and assets-income ratio of smartphone brands in the world in Q2 2016. Accordingly, Apple still spots the first position with the highest value share in this industry: 75%! But compared to last year there has been a decrease due to the rise of Samsung. But Apple again is the incomparable one with 38% value share by selling smartphones only!

Along with Apple, Samsung is also the company that gains profit in Q2 2016. The share value of this Korean giant is 17%. At the same time, the profit they earned only from selling smartphones takes 31% of the industry’s profit. T. Michael Walkley, Cannaccord Genuity’s analyst, has claimed that Galaxy S7 and Note 7 will continue to earn huge amount of money for the company in the future. Walkley has also added that Apple customers are “delaying” their purchase because they are looking forward to the next iPhone this year.

Samsung vs Apple: Top the industry!

As mentioned above, except Samsung vs Apple, all other leading OEMs have encountered great profit loss in selling smartphones. Microsoft and HTC surprisingly have lost 22% of their value share in the smartphone segment. Microsoft seems to be “luckier” as at least they’ve lost “less” than last year: from -53% to -16%! Meanwhile, HTC have lost more: from -16% to -22%. Two other big names: LG vs Lenovo respectively have lost 5% and 10%.

So what about the Chinese brands? Cannaccord have claimed that the lack of big Chinese brands in this result is due to unavailable statistics. It may lead to the un-precise number of global profit but also according to the market researching brand, Chinese smartphone brands mostly “attack” the budget segment, which greatly limits the profit of those brand and doesn’t lead to any big changes in the global profit. However, Cannaccord have expected that if they only consider the Chinese market, Apple may have to stand behind Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi and VIVO in terms of value share.

Despite being unsuccessful in the market, HTC is still one of the best flagships in the smartphone industry and of course, the best phone so far from HTC. Let’s take a look at this HTC 10 review to see why!

HTC 10 review: A high-end experience!

First of all, in this HTC 10 review, let’s talk about the design. Different from the promoted photos, HTC 10 in real life looks very premium! The line around the back edge of the phone is bigger than in the predecessors, which makes the phone not easy to slip from your hand and look much cooler. However, as an HTC fan, I expect the flagship will come with more changes in the design.

The second thing to talk about in this HTC 10 review is its battery. Though it packs a humble 3000mAh battery, this phone actually stays longer than expected. I once unplugged the phone at 8 am when it had been fully charged. Then I went out the whole day using 3GB and GPS continuously but the battery still remained 20% when I arrived home at 8 pm. So this time, with HTC 10, the capacity really doesn’t count!

Now let’s move on to the display. HTC is always well known for producing excellent display. And this time, HTC 10 is a great example of that tradition! The color on the display is very vibrant, truthful. The color transformation and the details are very smooth and natural looking. That’s thanks to the S-LCD 5 with 2k resolution. Another improvement of this phone is that the navigating buttons have been transformed into physical buttons (in HTC 8 and HTC 9 those buttons are placed within the display), so now the entire 5.2-inch is only for content!

HTC 10 review: The camera

Last but not least in this HTC 10 review, let’s talk about the camera. The 12MP snapper on the back of this phone reproduces truthful colors and detailed edges. The phase detection autofocus of Galaxy S7 Edge, this phone is not really outstanding in focusing speed. Besides, the interface of the camera app is quite complicated to use. However, I’m impressed by its performance in low-light environment. The photos taken in the dark has very little noise. I personally prefer a dark, noiseless photo than a brighter but full of noise photo!

It looks like the announcement day of Mate 9 is closer than ever. As after some leaks about Huawei Mate 9 specs have been available on the internet, now here comes the actual render of this phone. This render is reported by techtastic.nl. The report refers to some images posted by a user on Baidu network. Before we “analyse” the Huawei Mate 9 render, let’s have a look back at its what the phone offers!

Huawei Mate 9 is hinted to come with a super powerful CPU. There will be a Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset, which will drive the system at the speed of 2.6GHz, and it is extremely fast! Moreover, there will be two variants of RAM: one with 4GB RAM and the other with 6GB RAM. No matter which variant, the phone still have a seamless performance! As for the display, this phone is said to carry a 5.9-inch full HD display, which is a nice size.

At MWC 2016, Sony surprised everyone with their new-looking product: Xperia XA. This phone showed up with an all-in-one metal uni-body. OnePlus CEO: 6GB RAM is not impressive

Carl Pei – OnePlus CEO and the Head of Global Business = has just made a visit to India. During this business trip, the young and talented leader has shared some interesting information about OnePlus 3 – one of the current strongest smartphone in the industry, as well as many OnePlus’s plans in “attacking” the smartphone market of this second most populous country in the world!

To be more specific, during the interview with Digit, the OnePlus CEO insisted: “There’s nothing impressive about having 6GB of RAM. I think there’s been a little bit of misunderstanding. Our goal, with this, was never for users to run as many apps in the background as possible,” So why does the brand add a 6GB RAM to the OnePlus 3? Here’s the answer!

According to the OnePlus CEO, there are lots of apps in the Google Play store but the average number of apps used by customers is only 15 apps. These apps, supposing that they are used at the same, only need to be driven by 4GB RAM. The other 2GB RAM left in the phone is in charge of the camera! To be more specific, the OnePlus 3 takes 4 photos instead of one, then it automatically pick the best photo. This process is the reason why OnePlus 3 features 6GB RAM.

OnePlus CEO:  “The press are a little bit afraid to criticise brands”

In addition, Pei also left some criticism about the Indian tech press “I think overall in India, the press are a little bit afraid to criticise brands. If no one stands up, this industry might develop into an unhealthy state.”.
