A few days ago, Huawei announced that its next smart phone, Huawei G8, has received TENAA certification. The news circulating around the internet and Huawei G8 has been expected to launch as soon as possible. Since the anxiety from waiting for a new great phone from this Chinese company has sky-rocketed, Huawei unveiled Huawei G8 not too long ago. It seems the company sales will continue to grow after this release.

On the first glance, Huawei G8 has a metal body with a 5.5 inch display. With the resolution of 1920 x 1080 p, the phone has a pixel density of 401p, which is high enough for many entertainment purposes. Moreover, it will be available in white, black, and gold color options. Looking at how eye catching the prototype photos are, we bet Huawei G8 will be an eye candy to many users. The Emotion UI modified by HUawei that runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop will also be a plus point in design.

The device is powered by Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa core processor, and Adreno 405 does the graphic rendering. The 2GB RAM version comes with 16GB internal storage, while the 3GB RAM version comes with 32GB, being a higher end one. Both the variants support microSD card, so you can always expand your storage up to 64GB.

Huawei G8 has a 13MP main camera with PureCel sensor, dual led and dual tone flash. The front camera has the resolution of 5MP, which is decent on a smart phone.

HUawei offers a rear facing fingerprint scanner, which enhances more on security. 4E LTE connectivity is also a supported feature. What is more amazing is that the phone houses a 3000mAh battery. HUawei G8 is also a dual sim device, making it an all you can get on just one smart phone.

The 2GB version will be at $370 and the 3GB version will be at $434 on sale in China. Let us hope that we can get it in the Philippines soon.

Nowadays, we have seen a lot of smartphones introduced to our market with better and better specs. However, not all of us understand what are the differences between some of the specs that power these smartphones. For example, screen resolution is one that have quite a lot of attention from users. So what makes HD, full HD and Quad HD screen displays?

HD

HD is the short form of “High distinction”. It implies a measurement of 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. Regardless of the screen size, if the pixel stays at this measurement, it’s a HD display. To make it easier to understand, for HD display, with the same resolution, the smaller the screen = the higher pixel density = more beautiful image display.

For instances, 4.3-inch screen will come with 342ppi pixel density while 4.7-inch will drop to 312ppi. And according to Apple, when they launched their iPhone 4, 3000 ppi is considered human’s “sweet spot” in a certain distance.

FULL HD

This category is an improved one from the HD category. The pixels of FHD display is  1,920 x 1,280. With the smartphone around 5-inch, the pixels will be 441 ppi. Once again, please keep in mind that, screen sizes contribute to affect pixel density.

Quad HD = 2K

QHD or 2K display is the highest resolutions found in smartphones these days, up to 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. And the “2,560” figure explains why this category has another name ~> over 2,000 pixels. Respectively, HD display can be called 720p and FHD as 1,080p.

For this category, a 5.5” QHD display should have a very high pixel density of 538ppi. For instance, 5.5 inch LG G3 with resolution 1440 x 2560px hit the same pixel density of 534ppi.

The bigger the pixels are in a display, the harder the processor has to work to make it show. And the harder the processor work, the more battery it needs. A QHD smartphone screen is absolutely more beautiful in terms of image display than a HD one. However, it also means faster battery usage.

Samsung, the famous Korean brand with top shipments in Q2, has continuously gaining attention to its next devices. Lately Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are the ones which cause a lot of discussion and excitement on websites.

Earlier today, we have received some info about leaked photos of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The information and the actual photos are captured live. Both devices now have made their own working appearance with these leaks.

Firstly, let us take a look at Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The images show that it will not be that much different from the things we had seen before. The most notable differences are the curved corners and straight top and bottom edges. What’s more likely to happen is that this phablet won’t be appearing in the future events. Therefore, this probably the last time it will official appear on the news and presses.

The phablet appears in gold color, which will appeal to many customers who appreciate high class and elegant design. However, the Home button looks not so great like that on other Samsung devices.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will sport a 5.7 inch display, a Snapdragon 808, 32GB internal storage and 16MP camera. It will run on the system of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 appearance is almost the same, as we know from earlier news. According to the photos, we can see that it still has the same glass and metal frame around the body. However, the edges are more curved and smooth. Galaxy Note may sport a 2k or 4k Super Amoled screen, with Samsung’s own LTE connector. A 4GB RAM and Type-C USB port will also be available apparently.

Earlier we mentioned Huawei and Lenovo are on the way to bring China on top of world’s mobile ranking. This time we compare two of their hottest, most amazing phones, to let you see why the two brand names can do so much to gain fame with their devices. The two products are Lenovo K80 and Huawei Ascend Mate 7.

Design and display

For the design, Lenovo K80 is a 8.5mm thick phone, weighing 158g. Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is a 7.9mm thick phone, which is thinner than the Lenovo. However, it is heavier with weighing 185g. This can be explained since Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a 6 inch big display, while Lenovo is a tad smaller with its 5.5inch screen.

It also means the K80 will sport a higher display density than Mate 7, being 401ppi over 368ppi. The resolution on both phones is the same, which is why on Lenovo K80 we certainly will have sharper view and clearer image. However, the different may not be much significant to many people.

For color options, K80 is available in Black, Silver, Red, , while Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is available in Obsidian black, Moonlight silver, and Amber gold.

Hardware

Lenovo K80 and Huawei Ascend Mate 7 are both amazing with its specs. However, if we consider speed, Lenovo is not as amazing as Huawei Ascend Mate 7 for this aspect. Having a quad core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 and Kirin 925 chipset, together with Mali-T628, Mate 7 easily overpowers K80. Though it is lacking in RAM (2GB for the 16GB version and 3GB RAM for the 32GB version), Mate 7 can still perform well.

However, K80 has its pros with having 4GB RAM for the 64GB, something only the Asus Zenfone 2 can rival. Another thing K80 wins over Mate 7 is that it has much higher internal storage. Still, K80 does not support microSD card, so if we only compare 32GB versions, Mate 7 is still the preferred choice.

Camera

Both phones have a primary 13MP camera with led flash. However, K80 is much better for its dual led flash and optical image stabilization. Though this can be considered minor differences as well.

Overall

So, in conclusion, though both are great smart phones with amazing specs, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Lenovo K80 have their own pros and cons towards each other. Users will need to use these criteria and purposes well when they choose between the two. However, with both devices housing over 4000mAh battery, we’d say the two are both worth their prices.

There are a lot of Zenfone 2 versions being released ever since the high end one Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML. However, many of them are the toned down versions, including Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL and the newly launched Asus Zenfone 2E.

With those many versions, there will a lot of mistakes in buying one Zenfone 2 if we are not careful.Therefore, let us take a better look at this Asus Zenfone 2E, with note in mind that it is not another high end Asus Zenfone 2, but an affordable version.

AT&T, an American telecommunications corporation, will distribute Asus Zenfone 2E. It will be available for sale on July 24 and cost around $120, which is much less expensive than other versions of Zenfone 2.

The device will sport a multitouch 5 inch IPS HD 1080 x 720p screen. It also packs a Intel’s Atom Z2560  chipset, a dual core processor  that runs at 1.6GHZ. Moreover, the phone has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable through the use of a microSD card.

Asus Zenfone 2E also has an 8MP main camera with led flash and a 2MP front facing camera, which makes it quite pleasant for users who wants to snap somet photos every once in a while. The device also houses a battery of 2500mAh.

At a quick glance, this Asus Zenfone 2E seems to be another variant of the affordable Asus Zenfone 2 Ze500CL. However, this phone runs can run on 4G LTE network and Android Lollipop 5.0, together with Asus’s ZenUI special interface.There will be black and white versions for color choices also.

So will the cheapest version of Asus Zenfone 2 sell well?

Huawei – the Chinese popular brand name – seems to be doing well with its sale for H1 this year. Like other companies from the same country, their main targets are users who want affordable but nice looking smart phones with great specs. This is mainly the reason why the Chinese company is doing well.

The company reports to have sold as many as 48.2 millions of devices for only the first half of 2015. The number is amazing, and many spectaculate that Huawei can almost become the world’s 3^rd largerst mobile company according to how they sell.

48.2 million devices sold means that Huawei sells 85% more than last year, which is a great step for this company’s revenue. $28.3 billion of revenue is accumulated, and more is coming from the second half of 2015, it means it can do much more.

Although other Chinese companies such as Lenovo still has not released their sales info yet, we still can say that this year is a big year for Huawei and Chinese names. The 3^rd spot on the world’s market, the 3^rd leading mobile company, whatever it belongs to, it belongs to a Chinese name.

Another interesting satistic is that, according to Huawei, more than 10 million devices from this company  have been sold in May and  June, promising more sales to come in H2.

Huawei is said to be launching its Huawei Mate 8 – the new flagship – in September at this year’s IFA. With the launch of Huawei Mate 8, the company will certainly be making more money and exceed its target of 100 million devices this year.

This is how it operates: the higher scores a phone get, the better the device is in terms of performance. However, criteria and real life experience are not always the same story. OnePlus Two is among the most expected flagships to be launch in H2 of 2015. After lots of news about the devices, finally the company revealed OnePlus Two Antutu points.

The first result of OnePlus Two Antutu points published earlier was a bit disappointing. Back then, the device was just able to score 51,460 Antutu points. To make it easier to compare, such point was just slightly higher than 51,011 Antutu points scored by OnePlus One.

After the low Antutu scores of OnePlus Two were revealed, lately the second number has been spotted. This results shows us a powerful smartphone that most people are waiting for and make the public satisfied. What we are concerning for now is that, is it the final result already? Is there any chance the OnePlus Two Antutu points get improved or worse, decreased?

Currently the slimmest smart phone in the world, Oppo R5 tops this list for being only 4.85 mm thick. However, as the phone is so thin, it does not have enough space for a better memory (only 2000mAh) or a headphone jack. Therefore, Oppo R5 is still lacking in some ways, despite its good specs.

2. Vivo X5 Max

Built to be 5.1 mm in thickness, Vivo X5 Max is one of the slimmest smart phones ever. With a metal frame around its body, Vivo X5 Max has an elegant and eye catching design. The specs is awesome with an octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset and 2GB of RAM. It shares the same problem with Oppo R5 as the battery is not so appealing.

3. Gionee Elife S7

It seems many Chinese manufacturers are good at producing thin smart phones. Gionee Elife S7 is also on this list for being only 5.5mm thick. The device sports a 5,2 inch Super AMOLED display, an octa core MediaTek 6752 chipset  & 2GB RAM for its specs.

4. Samsung Galaxy A8

Of course, this flagship from Samsung should be included on this list. Ever since its launch, Samsung Galaxy A8 has caught a lot of attention for its slim body. Unlike the other smart phones above, Samsung Galaxy A8 boasts a high battery level of 3050mAh.

5. Huawei Ascend P6

Another Chinese name on this list, Huawei Ascend P6 is only 6.2mm thick. Like other smart phones on this list, it suffers from low battery life, even though the specs is decent.
