The Most Downloaded Apps Across The World

Social Media is King

Based on various research, we learnt that most people spend their time on different social media apps. As a result, it’s easy to spot a lot of apps like Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram in the current list of the most downloaded apps today. However, which one will take the crowd?

Moreover, we need to give in the data insight of both Android and iOS users. Surprisingly, there is a vast difference between the two pools of users. Furthermore, the numbers might also change depending on the platform. For Google Play Stores, there is a large number of tablets, Smart TVs, smartphones, and Chromebooks. On the other hand, iOS App Store also appears on devices like iPhones, iMacs, iPads, and other smart Mac products.

For iOS, we can see that TikTok is claiming the top throne with up to 17M downloads. Video editing app Capcut finished in second place with 14M downloads. Meanwhile, the top 5 list includes other big names like Instagram, Google, and Google Maps. All three gained over 10M downloads. The last two apps won’t be counted for Android, as most phones come with these preinstalled. As for iOS rival, Instagram has become the king of the Android community, hitting over 38M downloads. The rest of the ranking are Facebook, TikTok, then WhatsApp, and Snapchat. It’s no surprise to see Facebook coming in second with 34M.

Overall number

If we combine the two platforms’ numbers, Instagram is the ultimate winner, with over 50M. Furthermore, TikTok is getting second place with 47M, despite being a lot younger. Facebook finishes third with 41M. There is WhatsApp at number four (34M), and CapCut ends the list at 28M. Other big apps that make the list are Telegram, Messenger, and music streaming Spotify. Another highlight from the ranking is that Twitter failed to make it to the list.
