WhatsApp is finally catching up with its rivals (WeChat, Viber, etc) and might soon get its own stickers on the upcoming Android Beta update. According to our source, a new stickers update is now available for WhatsApp Android beta version 2.18.218, coming in two packs: ‘Bibimbap Friends” and “Unchi & Rollie”. While Bibimbap Friends is an animate casserole, the Unchi & Rollie is a turd and a rolling paper, respectively. However, an exact launching date is unclear at this point.

Last month, WhatsApp Stickers appeared on Android beta version 2.18.189, though the feature was under development and remotely disabled. Now, it looks like WhatsApp beta testers can also access Stickers. The feature’s icon will apparently be next to GIF button on the keyboard. Users will require data to download a pack for the first time. Once users have downloaded the pack, the stickers can be available offline as well.

Moreover, there are four reaction packs for the WhatsApp Stickers – Lol, Love, Sad, and Wow. With WhatsApp’s Sticker Reaction packs, users will be able to quickly select and send stickers to contacts right from within the app’s keyboard. All they have to do is open a Sticker category in Stickers View and select to share with friends. A new heart icon will also be added in the Sticker View, which users can click on to view the four reactions feature. Of course, there is also a different set of stickers for each category on the app.

It is a fact that Stickers have become a fun tool for people to converse or add them in their chat browsers. Thus, it is high time that WhatsApp brings this feature in the app. Apart from this new improvement, WhatsApp has also released features to tackle the “fake news” problem. It includes labelling messages as forwarded if it is an information which has been circulating and has not originated from the sender.

It is the first week of July, and Nokia Mobile has rolled out the July Android Security update to their Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones. However, keep in mind these are for the 2017 models. In details, the update for Nokia 6 is 140.9 MB in size and the update for Nokia 5 is 145.1 MB in size. You can find more about Google’s June Security update at Android Security Bulletin.

If you haven’t received the update notification, we would suggest you to manually check for the update by going to Settings > System > System Updates. For those that are concerned, the July Android Security update brings fixes for a critical security vulnerability in Media framework that could enable a remote attacker. It’s common knowledge that Android updates are slow. In some cases, they even get unnecessarily delayed. And to fix this universal problem that the ecosystem has since its original launch, Google introduced Project Treble to the world. For your information, Project Treble is part of Android 8.0 Oreo and separates the platform’s framework from the vendor’s hardware code implementations. Basically, this means that Samsung, LG, Huawei and other handset makers will only have to make changes to their part of the software.

Meanwhile, Google and companies that provide the SoC will take care of their own. Unfortunately, Project Treble is not yet supported by all smartphones on the market. But some got support for PT after the Android Oreo release. HMD has confirmed multiple times that all its Nokia branded smartphones will get the Android P update for quite a while now. In fact, the company recently launched a Beta program in China for the owners of Nokia 6 2018, Nokia 7, Nokia 7 plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. However, there was no information on the availability of the update’s release date. Well, that changes now, as users are informed that the rollout will begin anytime after July.

As you can see in the source, the information comes on behalf of Nokia Mobile Care. In an email sent out to a user, the support staff gave August as the time frame when Android P will launch to Nokia devices. Let’s check out the Nokia 7 plus specs again while we are waiting! In terms of the display, this phone features a large 6-inch IPS LCD with a tall 18:9 ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels.

Today, TCL Communication formerly announced the debut of Alcatel 1 – a budget smartphone running Android Go system. While the rumoured specs line up nicely, we had no idea on price until today; which looks to be 79 euros or $89, depending on your market. That makes the Alcatel 1 the cheapest smartphone in the world with a tall 18:9 display. According to the company, the phone will be available “in select markets” at some point in July.

We think it’s reasonable to assume the US and Europe market will be getting it. Regarding the display, Alcatel 1 specs include the biggest screen of a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen with the resolution of 960 x 480 pixels. Under the hood, the Alcatel handset takes power from the 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6739 chipset. In term of the hardware, it offers only 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Optics-wise, Alcatel 1 camera equips a single 5MP rear cam and a 2MP selfie shooter.

Recently, Qualcomm has just unveiled the Snapdragon 710 chip, the first entry in its 700 mobile platform series. The company is holding to the same promises with the 710 that it first promoted when it announced the line in February. That includes double the AI performance compared to the previous Snapdragon 660. Also, Qualcomm says it should offer improvements in a variety of applications from voice-based user interfaces to photography.

Snapdragon 710 smartphones will also be the first Qualcomm platforms to support 4K resolution. Under the hood, the chip is built on a 10nm architecture. With that, Qualcomm promises an overall 20% performance boost more than the Snapdragon 660 version; along with a huge reduction of power consumption while playing games or watching videos on smartphones.

In our opinion, this 710 processor is more of an international gamble for Qualcomm. It is specifically targeting at midrange Android phones from companies like Xiaomi and Vivo; as opposed to the US market where expensive flagships are pretty much the only dictator in the area. From that perspective, offering more powerful upgrades to lower-budget Android phones at a cheaper price range could achieve success in a way that the candidates like Galaxy S9 or Google Pixel 2 haven’t.
