This phone has just leaked on Weibo recently with some specs and renders. This phone used to be leaked before with the “Mercury” name. Design-wise, the handset showed up with a totally black model. As we said before, DTEK70 comes with the significant BlackBerry feature- a physical keyboard. The logo of the brand is placed in the middle of the rear panel.

In terms of BlackBerry DTEK70 specs, it is said to be powered by an octa-core SND 625 processor. There will be 3GB RAM paired with 32GB of expandable inbuilt storage. It will have a 4.2-inch screen and be backed up with a 3400mAh battery. There is still no information about cameras. However, as you can see on the render pics, this new BlackBerry phone will sport a huge camera module with dual LED flash on the top left. This could mean that the phone will come with a great main camera as well as optical zoom.

BlackBerry DTEK70: price and availability

Coming with 3GB RAM and a 3400mAh battery, we can see that this phone is aimed at the mid-range segment. After Blackberry Priv, Blackberry confirmed to launch other 3 Blackberry smartphones. The first two have been already launched namely DTEK 50 and DTEK 60. This Mercury seems to be the third one. Its design is a combination of curved screen and physical QWERTY keyboard, the typical feature of Blackberry.

BlackBerry Mercury  is equipped with a small screen size, only 4.5 inches, to leave a place for a physical keyboard. However, this is a dual curved screen with 1920×1080 resolution. Under the hood, this Blackberry will be powered by 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 3GB RAM and expandable 32GB ROM. As for the photography, this handset sports a 18MP primary camera and 8MP selfie snapper.

This phone is predicted to run Android 7.0 Nougat as in previous rumors. The promotion photo also revealed that the smartphone is integrated a fingerprint sensor embedded into the touchscreen, the new trend of smartphones in 2017. As a business phone, it also has a large battery for 2 days. Blackberry Mercury is predicted to be the last smartphone Blackberry produces and releases on their own before TCL officially acquired Blackberry’s phone department.

Back in June, this Canadian company said that they would bring 3 new Android phones to the market. Up till now, 2 of them have already been unveiled: DTEK50 and DTEK60.

And to our surprise, the Mercury will be featuring Blackberry’s iconic physical keyboard. On the benchmark, the phone scored 913 points for single-core performance and 5047 points for multi-core performance. With all those specs above, TCL 950 is said to be the Full HD version of DTEK60 of BalckBerry. BlackBerry to terminate their smartphone production industry

From recent reports, BlackBerry officials confirmed that the company is terminating their smartphone production industry. In different words, we will not be seeing a smartphone made by BlackBerry anymore in the near future. Instead, there will be a third-party company to do the manufacturing for them.  Also from the same statement, CEO John Chen clearly pointed out that the company will stop all internal hardware development and switch their focus to other segments.

BlackBerry will concentrate on software and service segment. John Chen also said: “In Q2 2017, more than doubled our software revenue year over year and delivered the highest gross margin in the company’s history”. Besides, as the newest revenue report, BlackBerry got 89% growth in software and service revenue. That explained why it won’t be such a surprise if the company concentrate on software and services instead of smartphones.

The truth be told, BlackBerry is facing quite a lot of difficulties in the smartphone market currently. Samsung, Apple and other brands from China are growing fast and dominating the global market. Being left behind, BlackBerry has just earned 0.3 percent of global market share and it is even decreasing gradually.

As they are saying a goodbye to smartphone production, the are coming up with another plan.
