Considering that the Galaxy Note 9 was around 1.5 mm initially thicker, the change would be pretty noticeable. This news directly confirmed previous reports from July 2017 that Apple would use the company for its new 7nm processor. The figure refers to the half-measurement of nodes in a chip, so a smaller number equals a denser chip. This could also mean more computing power and reduced energy consumption, which is crucial for any mobile devices.

In addition, this next generation chip could help Apple devices perform faster and operate longer between charges. This gives the company an advantage in a competitive market that has experienced dormant demand for new handsets. A lack of new hardware design modification, along with longer replacement rates and diminishing carrier support, have been blamed for the cooling. On a side note, Apple has managed to grow its global market share in the first quarter of 2018; despite a decline in shipments worldwide. However, Apple is not alone in this battle.

7nm chip

Samsung is now also the main competitor in this race; after news emerged in April that the company is preparing to start manufacturing the 7nm Snapdragon 855. This chip supposes to use 35% less power than current chips; while offering speed boosts of 40% and support 5G mobile connectivity. After Samsung sent out the invitation of the Galaxy J6 launch event in Europe, the company also announced its plans to release the handset in India on the following day. As seen from the “Infinity & More” slogan and the marketing photos, it’s safe to conclude that Samsung Galaxy J6 will come with a tall Infinity display. Moreover, two more features were revealed from the user manual – Dolby Atmos audio and face recognition.

They both don’t require any special hardware, but it’s good to see that Samsung is also implementing them in the lower priced models as well. In terms of the display, Samsung Galaxy J6 specs sport a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with the resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. On top of that, the phone gets power from the Octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset at the core. Besides that, this upcoming Samsung phone offers different storage options of 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB ROM.

In addition, there is a microSD card that can expand to 256GB. Regarding the operating system, the Galaxy J6 works on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. Also, the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, and fingerprint sensor. Last but not least, the Galaxy J6 battery rocks a non-removable 3000mAh juice box.
