LeEco Le 2s: Welcome to the 4GB RAM segment!

According to rumours, LeEco Le 2s will come with a powerful CPU with 8GB RAM and Snapdragon 821 chipset. But it looks like rumours are just rumours, as the latest reveal on GFXBench, a trustworthy brenchmark, shows that the phone will carries a less powerful CPU: 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820. This combination is not weak at all, but it’s a bit too mainstream as most today’s flagships flaunts the same combo.

However, it’s undeniable that the “couple” of 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820 is still one of the most awesome in the current smartphone industry! Other LeEco Le 2s specs are also worth being bookmarked! This phone will pack Andreno 530 GPU, another outstanding feature for graphics. Besides, the phone is hinted to pack a 16MP dual camera on the back and a 8MP snapper on the front for selfie!

Regarding the display, LeEco Le 2s will arrive with a 5.5-inch screen with full HD resolution. There is 32GB of internal storage for users to store their personal stuff. You will also find a fingerprint scanner located right below the rear camera. Moreover, this phone will not support 3.5mm earphone jack. Instead, users can plug earphones into the Type-C USB port of the handset. There’s no information about the battery capacity, but it’s shown that this LeEco phone will feature Quick Charge 3.0.

Galaxy Note 7 twin is about to show up. And this sibling is not from the Korean smartphone maker- Samsung. It comes from a Chinese brand- Xiaomi. On the leaked images, Mi Note 2 sport an iconic feature of Samsung – dual- curved screen display. The back of the phone is made of glass. If you have a glance, you may think it is the flagship from Samsung.

Of course, Mi Note 2 and Note 7 are not totally the same. There are still many differences between them. Android 7 Nougat: Project Svelte

Project Doze made it debut in Android 6 Marshmallow. In this version, this project is able to defer the network activity and the CPU when the phone’s screen is off, unplugged and motionless. If these three things do not take place at the same time, Doze does nothing and apps still running in the background and hence keep consuming your data and the phone’s battery. However, in Android 7 Nougat, there’s a huge different! Doze is now working in two processes as mentioned below.

The first one is when the phone’s screen is off and there’s not plug-in (for a set amount of time). In this case, all apps are prevented from accessing the network until the owner wakes the phone up. This process works really well when you are driving. The second process is when your phone is not being moved (also for a set amount of time). In this situation, most applications stop functioning and your phone is almost dead until you pick it up. This saves a HUGE amount of battery when you don’t use the phone. So overall, what I love about Android 7 Nougat is that Google actually tries to improve their products. I’m not 100% sure if these projects work, but at least I can see great effort.

Although all of them are very decent products in the low-price segment, there are differences that help distinguish them from one another. And we are looking for the one with highest performance that can be considered the King of Lenovo Vibe K5 family. First, let’s talk about the basic Lenovo Vibe K5, with 2GB RAM. This version features a 5.0-inch HD display, an Octa-core Qualcomm SnapDragon 415 at 1.2GHz speed, 16GB ROM, a combo of 13MP/5MP camera, and a moderate 2750mAh battery. Lenovo Vibe K5 falls at Rs. 7,999 (roughly USD 120) and is by far the cheapest version in Vibe K5 series of Lenovo mobile.

Besides Lenovo Vibe K5, we have another enhanced version: Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. This “Plus” model has the same 5.0-inch screen but with better resolution at 1080 x 1920p. (441PPI). Under the hood,  Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus get a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. Other Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus specs offer the same with those of its counterpart. Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus price is Rs. 7,999, which is surprisingly as cheap.

Besides the 2GB RAM, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus also comes with a 3GB RAM version to boost better performance. Other than the bigger RAM, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus specs remain with the basic version. And this 3GB Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus price is also a bit higher at Rs 8.499 (USD 127)

Lenovo Mobile: A King is…

Guess what, the King of this Lenovo Mobile series we have been mentioning is… none of the above. Actually, there is another item you may fall in love with: Lenovo Vibe K5 Note. This is also one of the best smartphone ever made in the mid-range segment. The phone packs popular 5.5 inch display, Helio P10 chip set with 1.8GHz. There is 3GB RAM in combination with 128GB ROM and a decent 3,500 mAh battery. The Vibe K5 Note sports 13MP/8MP camera duos and priced at Rs 13,499 (which is USD 200). And thanks to all of those, this model is worth being chosen our King of the series.

We can all agree on one thing: smartphones screen are getting bigger these days. And with that comes the terminology about resolution and such, to demonstrate what the screen can do. So today, we will try to explain some terms regarding display resolution.

Display resolution: Some definition

There are two key terms here: definition (HD, Full HD, etc.) and resolution (pixel density). Definition means the number of horizontal and vertical pixels make up the screen. Simply put, it is the measures of a rectangle (the screen), only in pixels rather than inches. And resolution is the number of pixels squeezed into one square inch: that is the pixels per inch (ppi) figure.

Knowing the these can tell us a lot about the display quality already, although to be the most accurate, you should see with your own eyes, because other factors can affect that as well, such as viewing angles, contrast, etc. Both terms can be used interchangeably to describe display quality. Having said that, now let’s see some popular display resolution.

Display resolution: HD

We will start with HD, the bare minimum that smartphones nowadays have. It stands for High Definition, and has measurement of 1,280 x 720 pixels. One thing to take note of, no matter how big the screen is, as long as the measurement stays the same, it is still HD definition. In theory, the smaller the screen, the higher the pixel density, and thus the better the picture.

Display resolution: Full HD

The next step up is Full HD resolution. It is currently the standard for smartphone display definition, although 2K (QHD) is slowly catching up on more recent flagship smartphones (we’ll talk about 2K in a moment). Its measurement is 1,920 x 1,080. Like we said before, pixel density will depend on the size of the screen.

Display resolution: 2K, or QHD

QHD is short for Quad HD, and yes, like its name suggests, it is four times the definition of standard HD. That means you can put the number of pixels of 4 HD display into a QHD display of the same size. The measurement is 2,560 x 1,440. Usually, definition can be referred to by the smaller measurement number. So, we can call HD 720p, Full HD 1080p. But for QHD, the name 2K stems from the fact that the bigger measurement is over 2,000 pixels, which, admittedly, can be a bit confusing.

Display resolution: 4K or Ultra HD

One thing should be made clear: although 4K and Ultra HD can be used interchangably, they are a bit different. 4K, like 2K, indicates that the bigger measurement is over 4,000 pixels. The exact is 4,096 x 2,160. Ultra HD’s measurement is 3,860 x 2,160. Both of them can be referred to as 2,160p. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone in the world to feature 4K display, but it actually is Ultra HD. Nevertheless, the pixel density of the phone is 806 ppi – far more than any smartphones.

As we’ve stated, smartphone screens are getting bigger, and so does the definition. But the technology of display proceeds faster than the development of the screen, which is admitted almost at its limit now (we call them mobile phones for a reason).The result is that image quality increased dramatically, because of increasing pixels density on screens that aren’t significantly larger. But, that comes at the expense of battery, so there has to be a balancing point. Right now, that balancing point is Full HD display on a 5.5-inch screen.
