Apple to introduced 3 new iPhone models in 2017!

Next year will be a very special year for Apple. That’s right, it’s the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone! As reported earlier by Ming-Chi Kuo, from KGI Securities, Apple has planned to launch 3 new iPhone models next year to celebrate this occasion. Among them, one model will have 5.8″ screen. This model is the one which will be called iPhone 8. This model will be equipped with OLED screen and many other high-end technology to celebrate 10 years of iPhone.

Also recently, Kuo also shared that the other two models, one with 4.7″ screen and the other 5.5″, will be called iPhone 7s and 7s Plus respectively. Both these models will still have LCD screen. However, they will have glass bodies. This opens up the possibility of having the wireless charging feature in these 2 models, it will be fast too. Kuo also said that Foxconn will be in charge of making the OLED screens, while the wireless charging implementation will be handled by Pegatron. All 3 new iPhone models will be run by the A11 chipset, which promises to be more powerful and even more efficient than the very powerful A10.

Kuo believed that by having glass bodies, Apple will surely focus on the wireless charging feature in future models of iPhones. However, he also thought that not all three of the new 2017 models will support wireless charging. Only the iPhone 8 will be equipped with this technology. He guessed that only future models of iPhones after 2017 will have full-support for fast wireless charging.

Samsung is one of the best and the biggest smartphone brands. This company is the trendsetter in the phone market. They are the one starting the dual curved screen display phone, they are the first brand to use Super AMOLED display to their products. Samsung is one of the most respectable brands in the smartphone industry. 2016 doesn’t seem to be the good year to Samsung when this brand globally got involved in the Note 7 explosion incidents.

These incidents cause Samsung lose the reputation and trust of their customers. However, not all the Samsung customers lose their faith. According to a survey, most customers will still use Samsung products. To be more specific, about 91% of Samsung smartphone users said that they will continue to use Samsung phones or buy another phone of this brand. 92% customers they will likely to keep buying another different product of this Korean giant.

We all know that Apple fans are famous for their loyalty. Now, we know that Samsung fans are also very faithful. Apple fans are similar to Samsung fans. 92% Apple fans are likely to use and to buy iPhones. And 89% of them say that they will still buy Apple products. Samsung fans and Apple fans are very faithful to their own favorite brand.

2017: Samsung brand will bounce back

2016 is not a good year for Samsung brand. However, 2017 could be the year for the company. They will bounce back and be stronger after the Note 7 recall. Next year, the company will bring their flagship Galaxy S8 to the market. This phone is expected to be one of the strongest handsets with SND 835 chipset . Recent reports have suggested that patents for the foldable iPhone was filed since 2014. Samsung is the company with a higher privilege to register for such designs.

Design and Features

It is believed that Tim Cook is also interested in such an innovation for the company Apple. The CEO will love to see a foldable iPhone with a flexible OLED screen. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted the patent no. 9,504,170 for “flexible display devices”, which details a design for a hinged iPhone that can fold in two when not in use. The device would rely on flexible components such as an OLED display, metal support tools made of a nickel and titanium alloy called nitinol.

Apple also discussed the flexible polymers as a possible alternative to the nitinol design, with some versions of the phone coming with a chassis split into upper and lower sections. These sections will be the place where the phone hardware is attached via a single or multi-shaft hinge mechanism. This will allow the rotation so that the divided parts separately can move relative to one another. There will be a flexible printed circuit boards to allow the phone to be foldable, while the display is overlaid across the two portions of the handset.

Of course, companies quickly file patents in order to protect their designs, and that’s why Apple secured the patent for its foldable iPhone. But a patent doesn’t mean that the product is going to be made and make it to market. As we previously told you, Apple is expected to introduce a new iPhone with an OLED screen in 2017. Instead of being flexible, the display of this next OLED device will be an almost all-screen design.

Apple might make a foldable iPhone?

iPhone 6 Plus issue: Apple finally admits

iPhone 6 Plus is one of the best Apple’s products last year. However, this phone has a problem. Back in August, an iFixit site said that iPhone 6 Plus got a problem with controller chips which lead to non-responsive touch screen. After that, there are more and more iPhone 6 Plus phones having the similar issue. At that time, Apple, as usual, kept silent about this iPhone 6 Plus issue.

Now, Apple finally admits the iPhone 6 Plus issue “Touch disease”. However, the company didn’t give any explanation about the chips or motherboard. Instead of that, they said that the phones could be dropped on a hard ground or the screen may flicker. These could be the reasons causing the “Touch Disease” of iPhone 6 Plus.

In addition, Apple also offers users a repair program. You can have your iPhone  6 Plus fixed with $149, as long as your device still works and the screen is not broken or damaged. If you already repaired your handset, don’t worry, you can partly have your money back. Apple will offset the discrepancy between the money you have to pay for the repair service and $149 from Apple program.

iPhone problem: not the first time

This is not the first time iPhones from Apple have a problem. There are many explosion cases involved to iPhones, even iPhone 7 exploded as well. These cases are not as global as Galaxy Note 7. However, Apple should be more careful on working on their iPhones, especially when iPhones are the most important product of the company. And hopefully, next time, if this happens again, Apple will give a better explanation.

Apple’s book: “Design by Apple in California”

Apple calls this book as a New Photo Book titled “Designed by Apple in California”.  Inside this book there is absolutely no word but just 450 pictures of Apple products which they have presented. These images captured by a famous photographer Andrew Zuckerman. Thanks to this book,  readers have the chance to look back on 20 years of Apple’s design. In a statement released recently, chief designer Jony Ive  described the book as “a gentle collection of the products that they have designed during the time”. He hopes that it will be a helpful reference source of all studying design students.

It can be seen this book doesn’t target ordinary readers but aim to design lovers and those who love collecting books, or maybe for people who just enjoy watching figure rather than reading the letters. However, it’s just our guess cause the book is still available to everyone.The book has two variants. Smaller version feature 10.20 “x 12.75” ,while version “Plus” has greater size 13″ x 16.25″.  It was unclear whether paper or material quality on the two variants will be different or not.

The journey of the book starts from the picture of iMac launched in 1998 and the final image is the newly launched Apple Pencil in 2015. The book is also a way for Apple to commemorate the first CEO – Steve Jobs for his devotion.

New screen effects when messaging

With the new version, Apple now brings two new interesting screen effects when messaging : Celebrate and Send with Love. Based on the names, we somehow can imagine their mechanism. The Celebrate effect will make the recipient’s screen sparkle and quiver in celebration. The Send with Love effect shows a huge balloon heart that flies across the display. To access, long press or 3D touch the arrow on the chat bubble next to your message, toggle to screen and swipe to the last option.

Streaming TV guide

Thanks to the new version, your handset can totally become a small TV provider. The TV is meant to be a central hub for TV content and video subscriptions. It includes shows and movies based on your personal preferences. Thanks to this new app, it would be easier for you to search for your favorite programs and keep updated with the new episodes or game shows.

New emojis

With the new version, we will be offered 72 more emojis. This includes notable smiley and sick faces, new professions that include both men and women, more food essentials and a selfie arm and so on. If you’re fed up with boring letters, you can now have various options of emojis to replace

Resume your text from a quick response

Ever lost what you were writing in the quick response bubble when you switch to fullscreen in Messages mid sentence? This annoying bug has been fixed in iOS 10.2, meaning you can pick off where you left off in your text when you click to open the full screen message from the lock screen or preview.

New features of iOS 10.2

According to Bloomberg, Apple AR glasses are testing (AR – augmented reality). This glass would connect to an iPhone to show images and other information in the field of vision. 

Apple AR glasses: current situation

As the source revealed, Apple has started discussions with suppliers and ordered a small quantities of near-eye displays for testing. In fact,  Apple has been preparing to penetrate into AR market. They once bought PrimeSense – a research company that specializes in motion recognition in 2013. They also bought some active companies in the field of virtual reality such as Metao Inc., Flyby Media Inc. in 2015 and 2016. Though there’s no technical details disclosed until now, but it is believed that the cutting edge glasses will spark an excitement to all fans.

However, Apple is facing challenges in developing marketable smart glasses. Based on the past record, Google failed in Glass experiment, which leads to the raise of privacy concerns with some early adopters. Moreover, Snapchat has recently announced plans to release Spectacles, a $130 pair of glasses with built-in camera for recording and sharing clips. Apple is obviously coping with a lot of barriers and competitors on this niche.

Google itself recently launched the DayDream VR headset alongside its Pixel smartphone. Lenovo Phab 2 pro and Asus Zenfone AR are the two smartphones infused with Tango project (which implements augmented reality play in the devices). So if iPhone is integrated with this AR glasses, it will be a formidable rival to all these aforementioned handsets.

Apple AR glasses: availability

iPhone SE 2017: an enhanced handset

Firstly, this second generation iPhone SE 2017 will come with 3D Touch technology. It is true that this is not the first time Apple has included 3D Touch technology in their smartphones. Nokia still has a lot of fans

The company also confirmed that it will introduce two high-end smartphone with Quad HD screen in two dimensions 4.8 inches and 5.5 inches, up to 22.6 MP camera and supports 4K video recording. Both will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip 820 or chip Intel’s latest dual-core. Observers predict that the most advanced Nokia smartphones will be around $450 to $500. This is reasonable in the context of high-end Android phones can not compete with Apple’s iPhone. Nokia comes back and uses the Android – a dream come true for many people.

But Nokia fans have been waiting too long and tend to move to iOS. Battery life test 2016: iPhone 7 Plus wins it all

Battery is one of the most important parts of a smartphone. It is also one of the important roles affecting the decisions of users whether to buy a phone or not. That’s why many smartphone brands try to improve this feature in their products. A handset with a huge capacity doesn’t mean it is the best battery phone. A battery life test of Phonearena proved it.

Phonearena made a battery life test of all the flagships this year, 16 devices to be more specific. They adjust the screens of these handsets at the brightness of 200 nits. After that, they let them run on the same browser. They scored based on the screen-on use of those handsets. The phone having the best battery is iPhone 7 Plus with 9 hours and 5 minutes. Once again, Apple proves us that they know how to optimize the performance.

The next two posts are also Apple‘s phones: iPhone 7 and iPhone SE. Standing in the 4th and 5th place is S7 Edge and S7. Google Pixel XL and Pixel take the 6th and 7th spot. Battery life test 2016: Apple iPhone stands still

Last year- 2015, Phonearena also did the same battery test with all the 2015 flagships. The result is not different compared the 2016 test. Apple iPhone stands still in the number one position with Apple iPhone 6s Plus. So, once again, a big battery capacity doesn’t mean a good battery smartphone.

Android phones are dominating the smartphone market. However, there are more and more Android users switch to use iPhones, at least about 10 million. 

10 million Android users switch to iPhones

The smartphone market is now dominated by three main type of smartphones: Android, iOS, and Windows. Among these 3 types, Android smartphones are the most popular. Android phones take about 88% market shares. However, in the past couple years, there are many Android users switch to use iPhones. And you might be surprised with the amount of these people- at least 10 million Android users.

So, how can we know that? It’s all thanks to an Apple app called Move to iOS in Google Play Store. This app helps you to easily move all your data from your Android device to an iPhone, from contacts, pictures to apps. The number of downloads increases over time.  In October last year, there were about 1 million to 5 million people downloading this app. This means that there were about 1 million – 5 million Android smartphone users switch to iPhones.

Until March 2016, this number had increased. There were about 10 million to 50 million “Move to iOS” installations. Not everyone who downloaded this app has changed to iOS. However, the number of Android users switch to iPhones is at least about 10 million. This is a huge number, especially in just about 6 months.

iPhone is leading

Although Android handsets are taking a major proportion in the market, iPhone is still leading. There are more and more Android users switching to use iPhones. From September 2015 to March 2016, at least 10 million users move from Android devices to iPhones. The reason could be the high security and great experience. This year, Apple equipped many new and cool features to iPhones this year like water resistance or dual camera. This could make more Android users want to switch to iPhones.
