The iPhone 7 has a main camera of 12MP with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization and Quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50% brighter than iPhone 6s. Noticably, the iPhone 7 camera has a six-element structure that allows for photos and videos to be taken in low light. The camera at the back can record videos ranging from 720p at 240fps to 2160p at 30fps. The 7MP frontal camera has f/2.2 aperture, Retina Flash, panorama feature and ability to record remarkable 1080p videos at 30fps.

The iPhone 7 Plus has the same frontal camera quality and specs as iPhone 7, but the iPhone 7 Plus has an entirely different option to offer for its main camera! The camera at the back of the bigger iPhone model has dual 12MP cameras: a wide-angle lens which is 28mm  (f/1.8) and a telephoto lens which is 56mm (f/2.8). The dual cameras will allow for high-quality photos with the ability to zoom from even farther away! Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus camera sets will have a all-new depth-of-field effect, which is said to come with the new software update in the upcoming few months.

At the iPhone 7 launch event in San Francisco, Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus showed up with many different features compared to iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. About the design, 2016 iPhones come with an aluminum unibody with four colors: black, silver, gold, rose gold, and the additional jet black color. On the rear panel, the antenna bands are now put on the top and bottom edges. There is no physical home button anymore, as well as 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead of that, Apple uses a 3D touch home button, and Lightning port now also serves as the headphone jack as well.

With IP67 certification, these handsets can handle in the depth of 3.2 feet of water in 30 minutes.  This year’s iPhone lineup is also equipped with stereo speakers, the first time for any Apple phones. With the stereo speakers, iPhones will be two times louder than before. Last but not least, the exact battery capacity has not been announced, but Apple promises that iPhone 7 will last 2 hours more than 6s, and 7 Plus will last 1 hour more than 6s Plus.

It seems that rumor may be true after all. According to a spec sheet that was posted on Chinese social media site Weibo, the new Lightning EarPods will be included in the box. What’s more, we will also get the Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone adapter This is great news for those who still prefer using 3.5mmm-jack earphones, if it is true.

According to the same source, there will also be variants of iPhone 7 / 7 Plus with 32GB and 256GB, along with the 128GB which has been announced before. Since iPhone 6 / 6 Plus, there have been 3 variants of each iPhone model: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. Among them, the 16GB variant has been criticized a lot, because it offers too little space for storage. With this move, we can see that Apple finally decides to leave out the small storage, version, and will start with 32GB at least, which is great news if true as well.

Apple iPhone 8 – The big step forward!

Snapdragon 820 SoC wins over Apple A9

Not so long ago, we gave you the comparison of some chipsets (SND 820, Kirin 955, Exynos 7420, and Helio X25) in the market to find out which SoC is the best. And the trophy went to Qualcomm chipset. This result was not a surprise since SND 82o is now the strongest processor in the market (except for SND 821).  So, how about Apple A9 chipset? Can SND 820 beats this Apple SoC and gain the crown again?

Recently, Antutu has posted two charts of top ten smartphone chip CPU and GPU performance. And SND 820 again is standing on the top of both lists. On the CPU chart, this chipset is at the first spot with the scores of 136,383. Taking the second spot is Apple A9. This SoC defeated the others strong rivals like Kirin 950 (4th place) and Exynos 8890 (3rd position) with 132,657 points.

The next positions belong to Exynos 7420, SND 810, SND 652, Apple A8 respectively. The big surprise belongs to the two last spots. SND 650 chipset beats SND 808 to take the 9th place. On the GPU chart, SND 820 continues to be the king with Adreno 530 GPU (55,098 points). Meanwhile, Apple with PowerVR GT7600 GPU again spots the second slot with 39,104 scores. The next places go to Exynos 8890, SND 810, Exynos 7420, Apple A8, SND 805, Kirin 950, SND 808 and SND 652.

With the top position of two lists, SND 820 is now the strongest processor at the present. Even though the company released a better version of this SoC-SND 821, there is still not SND 821 phone appearing in the market. For this reason, Snapdragon 820 is still the king. This chipset is very popular. It is used in most of the flagship devices like OnePlus 3, HTC 10, LG G5, or Xiaomi Mi 5.

MicroLED is a flat screen technology and has been mentioned since 2014, after Apple acquired the technology firm LuxVue, who had been researching this screen technology for some time. However, MicroLED screen has many advantages over OLED screen. It can provide brightness 30 times better than OLED. A MicroLED screen also lasts much longer than an OLED screen, and can be made even thinner than OLED. The power consumption is also better in theory, and most importantly, has lower production cost. We can safely say that MicroLED inherits all the good things about LCD and OLED, and is the best one so far.

What do all these mean? First, Apple can use this to differentiate their products, because this will be the first time ever a commercial product has the MicroLED screen. Ultimately, this will help Apple gain more customers, due to all the benefits this screen will provide. For end-users, they may finally have the solution to the battery problem of smartphones. You will need to provide a trusted phone number which must belong to someone you can trust or yourself. Then you continue to verify your trusted devices. In this part, you have to keep all your devices on, internet-connected and signed in.

3. Apple security ID: Safe net for complete safety

For each of your trusted devices or phone number, you will receive a verification code that only belong to you. Next, you will be able to confirm your own Apple ID by typing the code you have into the website box. There is also a safe net for you in case you losing your code or your trusted devices: recovery key. You will hold the right to access your ID again in no time.

4. Apple security ID: Finishing establishing 2-Step Verification

When you come to this step, your 2-Step Verification is completed. Whenever you enter your ID account successfully, you will be asked which trusted device you want to receive the code. There is a reminder for you. Since third-party apps don’t support the way to enter this verification code, these apps will have their specific access password which is customized by you.

In a way, “jailbreaking” puts you in control of your device, not Apple, or anyone else. You can install apps that are not on the App Store, not approved yet by Apple, change the interface any way you like, and a bunch of other customization normally not possible. It makes iOS more like Android. iOS is a closed ecosystem as mentioned before, so when you jailbreak it, you will be able to do literally anything you want with your device, like escaping from jail to find freedom.

On the iPhone, once jailbroken, you can install those apps outside of the App Store, and get paid apps for free. You can also tweak many aspects of the iOS interface, replace default apps, and so on. What’s more, all the tools to jailbreak are free, and there are detailed guidelines to do it. One quick Google search and you will find a lot of tools for this purpose. However, once jailbroken, you cannot get automatic updates from Apple anymore – the newer software version will render the tool, and maybe the device too, unusable. You will have to wait for appropriate updated hacks, or stay in the older version.

Jailbreaking: Should you do it?

Nowadays, Apple has given more access to iOS for developers and users, so jailbreaking is not as popular as before. However, if you want to be the true “administrator” of the phone, go for it. Just be aware of these facts: getting apps from non-official sources can be considered piracy, although the act of jailbreaking is not illegal (yet!). Furthermore, even if you jailbreak your device just once, the warranty will be void. Considering that, do think carefully, or you won’t have anywhere to fall back on if things went wrong. Finally, just like using cracked apps and games, you will be vulnerable to security attacks. If you think the risks are worth it, then jailbreaking is for you!

Operation principles of 2- Step Verification are quite simple. This tech will send a second security code to your IOS devices. Normally, whenever you sign in your Apple ID or iCloud, you type your password only. But with 2- Step Verification presence, you only need to type the sent code after finishing typing your Apple password. This code is 4-digit long. Therefore, it will take you very little time to type it before working or playing with your phone.

Some of you may think it is annoying to enter a code after the password. However, it is worthy. You do not want your photos spreading around on the Internet like those celebrities. Imagine your photos in the days when you were still wearing diapers or awkward moments from your parents are leaked online without being aware. Such a nightmare!

Apple, despite what some people say, has always been doing things in its own way. However, it seems that Apple will jump into Samsung’s game: the curved screen. According to reports, a curved screen iPhone may be launched next year.

Curved screen iPhone: Apple’s change of strategy

According to Nikkei Asian Review, next year’s iPhone line-up will have 3 different and distinct variants: a 4.7″ model, a 5.5″ model, and a premium model with 5.5″ or larger, with screen curved on the sides, or in short, a curved screen iPhone. We can’t help but think about Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and of course, the recent hype of Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Nikkei Asian Review said they got this information from a source familiar with Apple’s plans.

The report did not explicitly state it, but that would mean Apple has to switch to an OLED screen for the premium curved screen iPhone. The first two new models will still sport traditional flat screen, which means they will likely be LCD. However, as we have said in an earlier article, OLED screen is superior to LCD: they consume less energy, display dark colors better, and they can be more flexible (curved). Also, there’s a bit of irony here, since Samsung will be the sole supplier of OLED screens for Apple.

Of course, reports like this need to be taken with a grain of salt. However, there are reasons to believe the rumor this time. Firstly, Apple has been granted patents for their curved screen. They’re not good just sitting around, so a good bet is that it will be put to good use with the curved screen iPhone. And, with the coming line-up of iPhone 7 reported to not be different from other iPhone models, Apple would need to step their game up in terms of design.

The introduction of curved screen iPhone will mean a lot to Apple. With the enormous success of Galaxy S7 Edge, and the recent Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has proven that curved screen is not just a marketing gimmick. With Apple’s declining sales in recent consecutive quarters, and its criticism of no innovation in recent iPhone models, the curve screen could be a game changer. If Apple implements it well, it can break out of its state of stagnation. And the Apple faithfuls can rejoice once more.
